I've heard so much about Cafe Marco's buffet offering that it has built up so much hype and standard in my foodie head. After so many years, I had an excuse to try it.

Lets talk about the space and service. Cafe Marco and Marco Polo Plaza has been in the Cebu dining game for years hence the reputation it has built for itself. With that said, you can clearly see and feel the dated look and feel of the space which none of the newer properties have. You can feel the multitude of memories that were made here and this years of "experience" in the hospitality industry shows through the service of the waitstaff. They were always ready to clear plates and attend to any of your needs. You will notice that they try their best to add modern touches around the space and they carry this out with much refinement.

The buffet area was concentrated on one large corner and the selection was indeed impressive. A huge chunk was dedicated to desserts while you have an impressive array of international food choices ranging from the usual Japanese-Chinese-Indian to western usuals (all sorts of meat entrees, salads and charcuterie). Seeing the Mexica section made me smile. Food quality was honestly a hit or miss for me. Some were really really good while others not as good. They were very generous with their seafood though and it was something that I really appreciate.

Probably the biggest disapointment for me were the desserts. They had so many options but it didnt have the richness and satiety I was craving and was expecting.

My overall experience with Cafe Marco was great however it didnt meet the very steep standard I...

Cafe Marco truly delivers an exceptional dining experience. Their dinner buffet is top-notch, offering a wide selection of high-quality dishes that cater to every palate. From fresh seafood to flavorful international cuisine, every bite was a delight.

The ambiance is elegant and refined, setting it apart from other buffets in the city. It feels more classy and intimate, perfect for special occasions or just a relaxing evening out. The staff is incredibly accommodating, ensuring a seamless dining experience with warm and attentive service.

If you're looking for a buffet that goes beyond the usual, Cafe Marco is the place to be! Highly recommended. On the pricier side but...

Good value for money. Consider doing "Bubbles" which is a wine buffet that makes sparkling, white or red wine available with your meal. Quality may not be world class but note that this is among the best you will ever get in Cebu Island. Consider enjoying the wide variety of food available instead and be open to discovering the Cebuano style of preparing classic dishes. Dishes change regularly but during my recent visit the Grilled Salmon Belly and the Mini Chorizo Vol-au-vent were the standouts. Remember to leave room for dessert. Baked 🧀 cheesecake and the mango crepe...

Food was generally good, but there were very few choices/cuisines/drinks compared to other known buffets in the city - for me Cafe Bai still sits on top, followed by Feria - and this goes below Vikings (sorry). The dining area was small and dimly lit. Also, the drinks were not part of the buffet - you'd need to pay separately for them, or you can settle with their juices, which were served in very small glasses. Experience was quite underwhelming since I had high expectations since this is Marco Polo.

Place is showing it's age. service were nice, but a little slow. Chilled Orange juice seemed like it was opened for a long time already and tasted fermented. Went there for the grill night, but served with raw pork and a mix up of orders. Food actually taste decent, ofc few choices because of the price range; and it's a hotel. The squid really tasted good. except for the pork that was raw. Overall- Sayang effort to drive there.
