We visited Denny’s at Robinsons Galleria Cebu for a Sunday lunch. Since we rarely come to this mall and saw a lot of buzz about Denny’s on social media, we decided to give it a try. The restaurant wasn’t crowded, which was a plus. We appreciated the calm and peaceful dining atmosphere.
Upon entering, we were welcomed promptly and our orders were taken efficiently, which we found commendable. The place was clean and visually pleasant, and although the staff seemed busy, they remained polite and accommodating.
They served complimentary black coffee, which was just your average brew. While we knew from other reviews that a complimentary bread typically comes with it, it was never offered or served. And while we didn’t ask for it, it’s something that should’ve been voluntarily provided as part of the experience.
Unfortunately, things went downhill from there.
We originally planned to try their Crispy Pork but were told that all fried items were unavailable due to them needing to change the oil. That’s an operational detail that ideally should be handled outside peak hours, not during a weekend lunch rush. This left us with fewer options.
We settled for the 1-pc. Pork Belly and Eggs and the 1-pc. New Orleans Pork Chop. Sadly, both were underwhelming:
The pork belly lacked flavor. The marinade didn’t come through at all and the vinegar garlic dip was too plain to lift the dish. The pork chop was extremely dry and tough, and again, the sauce wasn’t enough to rescue the blandness. Both meals came with garlic rice that tasted more like soggy plain rice with a few tasteless bits of garlic. Very disappointing. The corn side was bland and underseasoned.
We also ordered the Chicken and Sausage Quesadilla, and this was the lowest point of the meal. The tortilla was overly crispy, almost stale-like, and the fillings were dry, crumbly, and flavorless. It felt like a dish that had been prepared hours before, left to dry out. Picking up a piece made the insides fall apart onto the plate. The only saving grace was the ranch dip, which added some moisture and flavor.
To make things worse, the prices were steep for the serving sizes and quality. The price gap between 1-pc and 2-pc options was unjustifiable. The portion-to-rice ratio was off, leaving you with extra bland rice after finishing the protein.
Lastly, my mom ordered the Cucumber Sipper, which she couldn’t finish. It had too much pulp and floating bits, making it unpleasant to drink.
Overall, the food was bland, dry, and overpriced. The service and ambiance were decent, but unfortunately, that’s not enough to compensate for the poor food quality. We left full, not from satisfaction, but from disappointment. There’s definitely room for improvement if Denny’s hopes to live up to its...
Read more//EDIT: we went back here 03/08/2025 and were excited to try the mom’s spaghetti again as it was our favorite dish when we dined her for the first time but something didn’t feel right about it. right off the bat, the taste was off. i thought perhaps it was the pasta itself because i’ve seen them use a pre-portioned cooked pasta in a plastic bag before but when i examined closer, the sauce smelled sour and had the consistency of snot. it tasted like it’s 30 minutes away from being spoiled. we asked the server if they could take it back explaining our issue with it and they mentioned it to the manager, the manager then didn’t even go to our table to offer an apology or anything, they didn’t listen to our concern at all and we were still charged for it. we were really looking forward to having that spaghetti but we ended up not even eating it for safety reasons. we ended up ordering a waffle just to make up for the disappointment that pasta was and it took them over 30 minutes to serve it. i looked at the counter and noticed the cook didn’t see the ticket for our order until our THIRD follow up. this is the first time ive been disappointed by a restaurant from The Bistro Group. such a shame. i thought we’d have a better experience our second time here but what a letdown. //
/// FIRST REVIEW:
I actually really liked it here. The food was very simple, but good and comforting.
The omurice is honestly overpriced (almost 300) for just eggs, rice, and sauce but I can’t bring myself to be mad at it because it was really good. The shrimp cajun pasta and mom’s spaghetti we’re really flavorful too. Such simple dishes but they were an upgrade after the lunch we had in another restaurant.
Despite only having one server when we dined here, the service was excellent. Would come back here again to try their...
Read moreNo value for money here. The completely empty restaurant at lunch time should have been a warning sign!
We had the Chicken Quesadillas, and the Taco Omelette. The dishes cost 6-700 pesos each so you expect some decent ingredients. The Quesadillas had practically 0 cheese, which for a dish that translates to 'tortilla filled with cheese', is just unacceptable. The little cheese it did have was a tiny amount of canned orange cheese. The chicken pieces were so small you could barely see them. It was essentially some tasteless bell pepper and onion inside a thin tortilla. For 600 pesos you expect some nicely spiced chicken and at least some mozzarella inside the quesadilla.
The taco omelette was a little better - had some flavour and real pieces of chicken, but when you look at what you get and how much you pay it just doesn't add up.
The service was friendly enough which saved them from a 1 star review. The atmosphere is fine,...
