The Lighthouse Restaurant in Cebu City, Philippines, is a true gem that delivers an exceptional dining experience. From the moment you step inside, you're transported to an atmosphere of romance and elegance that sets the stage for a memorable meal. One of the standout dishes at The Lighthouse is the Beef Steak Tagalog, which is served in a sizzling skillet. The sizzle and aroma as it arrives at your table are simply irresistible. The tender beef, marinated to perfection, is a flavor explosion that showcases the richness of Filipino cuisine. It's a dish that pays homage to tradition while offering a delightful twist. Another highlight is the Sauteed Shrimp, presented uniquely in a metal pot turned on its side. This creative presentation not only adds to the visual appeal but also keeps the dish piping hot. The succulent shrimp, sauteed to perfection, is a true seafood delight. Pairing these dishes with garlic rice and a refreshing Lemon Citrus pitcher is a stroke of culinary genius. The citrusy notes complement the savory flavors and add a refreshing element to the meal. The Lighthouse Restaurant's commitment to providing a romantic atmosphere is evident in every detail. Live music by two talented artists adds an extra layer of charm to the dining experience. It's a place where you can savor exquisite cuisine while enjoying the sweet melodies of talented musicians. The upgraded menu at The Lighthouse is a testament to the restaurant's dedication to culinary excellence. The fusion of traditional Filipino dishes with contemporary twists creates a dining adventure that's both familiar and exciting. In summary, The Lighthouse Restaurant in Cebu City is a haven for those seeking a romantic and exceptional dining experience. With its exquisite dishes, creative presentation, live music, and upgraded menu, it's a destination that invites you to savor the finer moments in life. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in a memorable meal, The Lighthouse delivers an unforgettable journey through Filipino cuisine and ambiance.

I went on a mission to eat here because it was my father's favorite restaurant in Cebu when he would travel there in the 80s, and he would always tell me I had to go there whenever I went to Cebu. Well, 17 years after my first (unsuccessful) attempt, I finally made it with my wife and some new friends from the International Teachers of English Convention, and it was amazing! The atmosphere is a bit kitschy but still with a lot of charm, and the food was incredible. Another charming feature was a duo of blind musicians playing a range of songs from "Hotel California" to the Beatles. I don't know if they play *every* night, but I would imagine they play there regularly. It's "upscale" traditional Filipino food, but at very reasonable prices. You should definitely go with a small group so you can sample as many dishes as possible. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the service was pretty slow. However some other people who went the next night said they had no such trouble, so I guess it's hit or miss. Nevertheless, it's absolutely a must-have part of your visit to Cebu!

Ambience was okay -- but I am troubled by the interiors (I am not an interior designer, but I personally think that it could use some redecorating) -- I can't seem to find syncronization between the entirety of the interior and the uniform of the staff (*my opinion). Also, some, if not most of the staff, aren't very pleasing -- I always notice their faces frowning (and I don't know why). Food. The taste of the food is average although prices of food items are cheap as compared to any like restaurant. Lastly, (sorry for this one) I personally don't like the men that were playing music -- maybe because it was too loud or maybe something else. Sorry. PS. Again, I'm sorry for this review -- just had to share what I had in mind and what I experienced. This is my personal opinion regarding the experience I had --

Tasty and decent food. But small portions for the price. Our group of 5 adults and 2 children were seated right away although the staff tried to move us to an area with no fans and farthest from the air conditioning and the live band, despite there only being one other group of patrons. Our baked scallops were tiny and overcooked with almost no cheese or butter. Our spicy chicken wings were flavorful but also very very small with only 5 wings in the serving. The beef bulalo soup was good but barely enough for a small serving for each of us. Our Kare Kare was almost all bones with a few small bites of meat and marrow. We orderdered calderita kambing that was mostly banana. The stuffed squid was ok but also on the small side. Can't complain about the rice or garlic rice. We discussed ordering more food once everything came out but decided to hold off since we would be having Halo Halo after our meal...

Well... About that... When we tried to order our halo halo we were told that they ran out. That the previous group had ordered it all. We arrived at 5:30pm for our reservation. The restaurant opened at 5pm. We were the first to order after they opened for dinner service. So what they were saying is they ran out of ingredients during the previous lunch service on a SATURDAY. And did not restock for the dinner service. They also only had pineapple for their shakes which none of us wanted and virtually exhausted their already meager dessert offerings.

I felt so bad for my guests (my in-laws) that I gave them money and put them in a taxi to SM to get some more food for the kids and halo halo since I had already told them they would have it. This will be the last time I will get to see them for a couple years. Really wish it would have been a...
