Updated review Jan 6, 2019
So we recently stopped by the reopened Metro Ayala Supermarket. Still at the lower ground level, at the Ayala Center Cebu.
Their temporary supermarket is still open though as of this posting.
But I am here to review about the reopening of the supermarket.
First impression, it feels just like the old Metro Ayala Supermarket, the aisles, the counters, the placement of the shelves and even the Suisse Cottage Bake Shop and the Pharmacy.
Although it feels more airy and spacious, probably because the ceiling is higher now, the painting is refreshingly and clean white.
My companions complain about the burnt smell although I do not agree.
It feels just like the old Metro Ayala Supermarket, you won’t lose your way if you are a frequent grocer here.
I am just happy that the Supermarket has reopened.
Take note though Metro Ayala has not yet opened the upper levels. As for the integrity of the edifice, there is fortunately no hint of dilapidation. We can rest be assured this went through thorough inspection and declared the place safe for people to shop again.
I’d like to update the rating to 4 stars, there will be more improvements for sure in the future, and I cannot for the rest of the Metro Ayala Department Store to reopen.

After the fire, Metro Ayala was able to put up pop up stores, by middle of 2018 they have opened a temporary groceries mart just in front of the old supermarket.
They have got all the basics, from fruits to frozen goods, bread to beverage.
The place though is not that big compared to the old supermarket.
But this is a big relief especially to those accustomed to getting their groceries inside Ayala Center Cebu.
The only other option is Rustans which is quite expensive.
The other drawback is that unlike the old supermarket, this does not have direct access to the parking lot or taxi cab.
Overall the service is still good, prices are fair and the place is well ventilated.
It can get really crowded...
Read moreAvoid! ! Just purchased a trolley full of groceries and the check out assistant decided not to use the conveyor belt for the products requiring that all the product had to be moved by hand multiple times to go through the register. When question she looked at me with blank look. After completion she decided to use the conveyor belt for other customers behind me. When questioned she had nothing to say. Upon exiting the store the security guard grabbed my trolley and would not let me pass even though I showed him my receipt. His reason was that trolleys are not allowed to leave the store. Very strange as the trolley was full and I wanted to continue shopping in other stores. I was assigned a baggage boy to escort me to the taxi however we did not want to leave straight away but we're forced to leave early. The baggage boy said they do that because if the trolley goes missing the baggage boys have to pay for the lost trollies. How is that for employee abuse! This store is not cheap, it's a least 10% more expensive than other stores for same items you would think customer service and convenience would be a priority. WILL NOT shop here again. Was made to feel like a trolley thief. F U M S! AVOID this backyard managed full of plastic product store. Fruit and veggies way...
Read moreThis place always charges more than listed price. It is a scam most Filipinos don’t even know. I always shop during early morning to avoid the crowds. And I do a lot of shopping. Since I’m living here I decided to shop here for convenience. I check the prices as cashier scans items. And every time I there’s at least one or more fresh items that gets charged 10-20% more than price tag. Even though it has weight and price on the tag they charge more. When you tell the cashier they call manager and he disappears for 5 minutes and comes back with new price tag with higher price. It’s a dishonest establishment preying on hard working Filipino workers. Couple times when it happened I thought it was just coincidence. But after going through this multiple times I decided to take action and contact authorities to pursue it further. I will keep you updated if authorities take any further measures for my concern. And I hope all shoppers will contact DTI Department of Trade and Industry immediately so big company like this can pay for their crime. Under the Consumer Act of the Philippines (RA 7394), price tags must match the actual selling price — any...
