If ever you find yourself over at Il Corso ridiculously early in the day, Luminous Espresso Industry is your food, drink and chill savior. The Qatar-based cafe restaurant opens at 8 AM and as early as 7 AM on Sundays (that's an instant star for me being an early bird and for having a penchant for cafes that open early). The cafe is one of the new attractions over at Il Corso (quite far, I know). After craving for some early breakfast complemented with some seaside breeze and a picturesque view of the sea, I took the early trip to Il Corso via CIBUS from IT park (they have trips as early as 6 AM, thank God for these new bus routes from IT Park). The cafe is situated right next to the seaside promenade and provides great views of Cebu straight with some of CCLEX and at the distance, Mactan island.
I situated myself on of the tables at their al fresco area which does get generous sunlight since it faces east and can get a bit warm when the sea breeze fails to show up. Good thing they have large industrial fans out to keep you cool though it can be a bit noisy. The interiors kept with the black theme with splashes of greens and faux foliage and tropical elements similar to their outdoor setting. It was definitely cool inside but I enjoy staying out whenever I dine alone. I had the Spanish latte and stack of pancakes. The Spanish latte was not to sweet but got watered down with the ice melting fast due to the heat outside (my fault) but still got me through most of my stay there. The pancake stack was gorgeous! Evenly cooked, mid-sized pieces with maplye syrup and strawberry slices layered in between. The strawberries were fresh, and generous. As a cafe restaurant they also had entrees and desserts among their offering. I wanted to try their panna cotta but it wasn't available for breakfast (more reasons to comeback on a different time). Their service crew were very attentive and friendly.
Overall, it was a great experience and if only Il Corso was a bit closer to my place, I would definitely spend more of my Sunday morning breakfasts at Luminous. It's truly a gem that stands out among others for its service, location, offerings and...

Read moreHad a bad experience with Luminous. We ordered at 8pm and it took around 30mins for us to know the machine was broken and none of them bothered to inform us and they just said “cancel na guro” so we said we just asked na e change to coke nalang instead and after a few mins, suddenly someone said the machine is okay na, mo push through paba daw sa coffee and we asked how many minutes mahimo and they answered “dali ra guro” so we waited again and after 15mins, niduol akong kauban sa counter asking for a follow up then the manager came and told us if someone didnt inform us about the broken machine to which someone said it was already okay. We waited for an hr for the latte and never got the coke. The croissant we ordered kay “hopas” na, wa nami kasabot kay lain kaayu inig ingkit. The manager offered my iced latte and was on the house as a way of saying sorry sa situation. Sayang lang ang time amo gi wait ddto and unprofessional ang crew. Maybe kay padong closing na or what na daghan kayg unavailable items nya kalit naguba ang machine pero bad experience jud. I’ll not recommend this place to my friends and family and will not comeback again. Need customer service training and management. Makatagam. Not...
