We dined at Osaka Tonkatsu Kawachi in Bonifacio District, Cebu, and tried their set meals: Katsu Ni (pork), Gyu Yakiniku (beef), and Karaage (chicken). Each set came with steamed rice, unlimited shredded cabbage, and miso soup.
The Katsu Ni, with its tender pork and perfectly crispy batter, was well complemented by the egg, making for a balanced and satisfying dish. The Gyu Yakiniku stood out with its rich umami flavor from the first bite, while the Karaage was delightfully tasty with juicy, flavorful chicken.
Portions were generous, and the availability of ample condiments on the table was a nice touch. The service was excellent—attentive and helpful throughout the meal. Considering the unlimited sides and large portions, the pricing was very reasonable. If you're looking for a place to satisfy a big appetite, this is definitely a...
Read moreJust discovered this Japanese resto in Bonifacio District. The interior feels like authentic Japanese resto like those in Japan. They have an open kitchen where the chef can be seen preparing the food. Their servings were big and I think they're one of the few restos in the city that serve Katsudon as part of the menu, since most only cater for ramen and tonkatsus.
The meat were thick, I even had a hard time finishing my entire bowls of Katsudon. We also ordered onigiri. Taste were good, but not really something you'd be craving for - just the typical Japanese, which is flavorful.
Will try other dishes in...
(Please give me the rice you cooked today.)」
I visited this restaurant as soon as it opened today for a delicious tonkatsu. The atmosphere was great and I ordered my favorite, the filet set meal, Hire Katsu Set. The cutlets were deep-fried right in front of me, and I could definitely confirm that they were delicious. The pork cutlet was juicy and delicious as expected! The time is controlled, and there is no such thing as over frying. The only thing that ruins it all is the white rice. I didn't think it was possible since this is a high-end pork cutlet restaurant, but it was obvious that the rice was just heated up from the leftover rice from the previous day. It was not even warm. I believe that tonkatsu can be savored with a balance of good rice, bowl, cabbage and cutlet. The amount of rice was also too little for me, so I said, "Please give me the rice you cooked today. But they still served me yesterday's leftover rice. Why should I pay 100 pesos for such rice? I will never go here again, even if I have to pay a high price. I don't care if it is a regular Japanese restaurant, this is a pork cutlet restaurant where you pay a high price. Please do it properly....
