Swing by for lunch and really did not expect much from a so-called “Vietnamese” restaurant in Cebu, or anywhere in Philippines for that matter. We ordered Bun Bo Hue (p559), Grill Pork Banh Mi (p399), and Shrimp Summer Roll (p329). How’s the large spicy bowl of Bun Bo Hue? Broth is flavorful, rich and complex, perfectly spiced, ingredients are fresh, the pork chả lụa is smooth, delicate. This dish is hard to prepared and cooked, but this restaurant did it! Small minus for wrong noodle used (pho noodle instead of round vermicelli) and missing blood cake. however, the saving grace is the soup was very tasty with proper shrimp paste and a wedge of lime. The grilled pork banh mi took some time to deliver, which should be the simplest preparation of Vietnamese sandwich! The sandwich has pickle veggies and grilled pork. Tasty enough with additional mayo (typically served with mayo and chicken pate) on crusty baguette. The final touch is cilantro with a touch of soy sauce? The shrimp spring rolls filled with shrimp (of course), pork vegetables, herbs and clear noodle (suppose to be vermicelli) as our appetizer. With a quick dip into the provided peanut sauce made long wait worthwhile. All in all, we actually surprised by how close to the root these dishes were! I think we’ve found our fix for Vietnamese food craving in this place. Oh, just so you know, we are Vietnamese.
xx
Underwhelming and overpriced. We ordered 3 items and the only thing we both liked were the meatballs in the pho bo vien. The shrimp roll is fine, nothing special. I was expecting more from the fish sauce wings but it was disappointing. The skin was nice and crispy but the meat itself tasted of something that has been sitting in the fridge for a week. I feel like whoever cut those chicken wings couldn’t find the joint of the wings so they just cut it wherever that’s why the bones and meat were bloody. A single plate costs 399 for 3 whole wings that was just cut into 6. 3 drums on the bottom and the flats on top to make it look plenty. What a joke. The nice decor, atmosphere, and friendly staff couldn’t change anything about the flavor of the food though so that’s a shame. Even if you have the money to splurge and try something new, I wouldn’t even recommend this place. You’re better off at the food court or somewhere else. Not worth it.

Updated score. I liked the Passion Fruit tea. Thank you! 🥰 ——— I have dined at their other locations (and have ordered via Grab multiple times in the past), but it was my first time to dine at their Robinson’s Galleria branch last Sunday. Being a self-proclaimed congee connoisseur (I was also feeling a bit under the weather), I had to get my usual beef congee fix. And calamansi juice for my throat (not pictured). If you like your congee bland, with the option to season to taste, then I think you’ll like their congee. I prefer mine with some Sriracha, a dash of black pepper, and a few drops of fish sauce. Simple, no frills, no nonsense. The thing about the Abaca brand is that they can be a bit pricey compared to other restaurants, but you are guaranteed a bowl of good quality food. They are consistent. Staff was attentive from start to finish. Overall, my visit was satisfactory. Will def visit again. :)

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining for the first time at Phat Pho in Robinsons Galleria, and it was a delightful experience that transported me to the streets of Vietnam.

The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting, with Vietnamese decor. The menu offers a wide variety of Vietnamese dishes, and I was eager to sample their famous pho.

We started with the Chicken Rolls and Satay, and they were a perfect beginning to the meal. The rolls were bursting with flavors, and the accompanying peanut sauce added a delightful twist.

The service was good and friendly, however one staff forgot to place my pho classic order so it was served late.

One minor gripe was the limited dessert selection.

Phat Pho at Robinsons Galleria is a must-visit for anyone looking to savor authentic Vietnamese cuisine. It's a place where you can enjoy a taste of Vietnam right here in Cebu.

Overall, for Pinoy taste buds, Vietnamese food will taste weird but if you are open to explore different...
