bigby's cafe and restaurant — Restaurant in Davao City

This is a fast cry from what it used to be starting with the old dilapidated menus. The staff appeared to be bothered by our arrival, a party of 8. The waiter took our order. I requested that the appetizer be served before the food. He almost immediately brought our drinks as we waited for our food for a good twenty to thirty minutes. The food started arriving, one plate, then another ten to fifteen minutes later. One person was practically done eating before another got their food. We had to seek the waiter to bring us water as the drinks dried up well before the food arrived. It just seemed disorganized, and we were served with no heart, no hospitality.

THE FOOD: Most of the food was well prepared and generously portioned. The exception was the shrimp (not pictured as it arrived near the end of our visit), which was overcooked and not fresh, which came as a surprise given the extensive access this region has to fresh seafood.

This place is special to me as it was one of the first places I dined in when I first visited from America over 19 years ago. Unfortunately, unless management acts to fix the customer experience, I will not return to this restaurant and can not recommend...

my mom and I ate the crispy sisig and the solo ribs. “sisig” was soggy and looked like puke, the only crispy thing about the dish was the crispy liempo on the side, the ribs was a bit bland without the bbq sauce, a side dish was spoiled (gave me diarrhea the next hour and couldn’t work the whole week) and the place was unhygienic, had roaches that I had to kill in-front of the manager. My mom and I told the manager about it and listened carefully which is good. I don't mind about the service although there were times that none of the waiters and waitresses, the manager that time was only the one looking or being attentive at the dining. I want to address this even if it was a little over a month. I remember there wasn't a lot of food available on the menu, but it didn’t bother me. I hope they improve their ingredients check every now and then. We didn’t ask for compensation because we know it will be the staff who will pay for that and we understand the circumstances. Would dine again if the food, service and place was good. Hoping to see...

I recommend the Tacky Wacky Salad. It's really good. Staff were friendly. Nice decorations throughout the restaurant and it was clean. Not 5 stars because they had NO BEEF in stock. In other words, we came for steak and couldn't order any beef steak options. I overheard a guy say that they seem to never have beek steak available even though it's on their menu. We also ordered a caesar salad with the chicken but they forgot the chicken. The cucumber juice was nice but I recommend ordering 1 and sharing it between 2 people and adding LOTS of water because it's TOO sweet. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. Might come back again one day for the salad but not a place I would...
