Botejyu SM City Davao — Restaurant in Davao City

Food was great. Service on the other hand was sloppy. Didn't serve water after order was taken. We had to ask for water and worse thing is that we had to follow up for it after waiting for about 5mins. What's worst? There were only about 3 or 4 tables occupied! 1 table only had 1 customer. The server whom we requested water from chose to get new orders from the new customers that just came in even after hearing our followup request from one of her coworker. We ended up being served by the manager. Guess he overheard that we've been asking for water but didn't get one after asking twice. Don't get me wrong.. this restaurant is one of my favorites!! However, the restaurant servers in this branch is just purely sloppy. This isn't the first time this happened so I guess it's just how they established their working culture within their team. Oh, and I forgot to mention, I was being asked by the same server to give this google rating in front of her and that she'd like to take a photo of me with my google rating! Don't know what her intention was cause as far as I know, you're not allowed to take photos of people giving ratings on the google page. Will...

I couldnt blame the staff. Theyre trying their best but I can see they are tired. They are understaffed. I hope this can be rectified. Its such a shame to dine in a restaurant with tired staff.

If you ask for something they will just shout - "pa assist sa table number... etc." But nobody comes. Nobody acknowledges the shout. And we were just left there forgotten. Staff needs to be taught about delegation and communication. Kudos to one kuya waiter who took our order after he saw us waiting for a long while.

Also, please bear in mind that if people are dining in as a family, we want to eat together. The orders came in one by one. By the time everything arrived on the table, the first ones out were already cold. We asked the food be served together but we were told there were different stations for the orders. Ive dined in a lot of japanese restos, and this has never happened.

Our experience started off ok. Staff came and took our order quickly, and food did come out quicker than we expected. The table behind us left annoyed. We overheard them complaining that they ordered ages ago and still hadn't been served any food, and we came in 2 parties after and got served food before they did. Our food wasn't great for the price but tasty enough. Serving sizes were decent. Dessert also took a LONG time to come out. It was literally toasted bread with ice cream but took 3 follow ups to come out. Where they really failed was when we paid for our food, they didn't remove items off our bill that weren't available. Paid by card and only realized afterward. They couldn't refund by card and had to give us cash which is fine, but it took 3 staff members and us following up 3 times before receiving our refund.
