Gerry's Abreeza Mall — Restaurant in Davao City

Dined at this Gerry's Grill recently. The table we were directed to sit at was clearly dirty from previous patrons. We asked to sit at another table (there were many others that were open at the time) but the server insisted we sit at this one. I asked him to wipe down the table. He proceeds to make a lazy attempt at wiping it down with a single dry napkin. We went ahead and got another server to properly wipe down the table with a moist towel like a server that cared about their customer would.

Then I had a problem with the Beef Kare Kare we were served. There was hardly any actual meat in the dish. As in two tiny pieces we were able to scrape off the skin and gelatin we were served. I explained the issue to our server. He quickly took the dish away and didn't say a word back to us. He then returned a few minutes later and said that the dish does not only contain meat, but other filler by products as well. To this explanation I explained again that part of what he described (actual meat) was non-existent in what we were served and that I wanted this taken off my bill. He then proceeds to walk away, again without saying anything in return.

I wanted this dish to be removed from our bill as there was nothing edible in what was served to us other than the sauce. My girl convinced me to proceed to pay anyway, which I reluctantly did. I tracked down the rude server on our way out and asked why he refused to have dialog with me or get a manager involved. He again refuses to talk to me. Just treated me like I was inconveniencing him by being a customer in the restaurant. I had a terrible experience at this establishment and...

I won't leave a terrible review unless I have a couple very bad experiences. I like the idea of this restaurant, but the marketing is so different than the experience. It's right across from where we live so I'm sad we can't enjoy. The 1st visit was mediocre, slow service but my wife nudged them along. My 2nd visit by myself was not good. Maybe my fault that I didn't wave my arms in the air to get my order taken. I left after 30 minutes... Tonight I did wave and then follow the server to get my order. The food was actually good. The restaurant had only a few customers for a well sized restaurant. Not going to give too many specifics on the employees, but there are so many things wrong here... This place...

The food was simply outstanding. The service, on the other hand, left much to be desired. I had to seek out the servers to take my order, ask for drink refills and to add to the order. It was quite frustrating. I typically tip quite generously, often times shocking waiters/waitresses. This time, I left an amount commensurate with the service I received. I hope to return and see if the staff surprises me and lives up to the reputation that most Gary's Restaurants, including the one I frequently go to in Houston Texas, USA.
