Sadly, Ramen Dashi’s bad customer service ruined the whole dining experience. But before I go into the details—
Tantanmen Ramen was especially good and savory. And it was served hot.
The ramen had firm noodles submerged in silky, nutty-flavored broth. It had slices of chashu pork belly as opposed to the usual tantanmen ramen topped with crispy, minced pork. Finally, it was garnished with spring onion and was accompanied with half-sliced marinated egg on the side.
I liked the Tempura Roll Maki as well. It was an urumaki with fresh avocado and cucumber, and shrimp all rolled together in nori sheet and rice. The crumbs surrounding the maki added to the texture. Lastly, it was drizzled with slightly spicy mayo sauce. A slice of maki was mouthful and I could pin point the taste of the avocado.
The food definitely matched our preference and expectations. However, the service attendants lacked initiative and did not possess a professional attitude at work.
Exhibit 1: A homeless kid entered the restaurant and was persistent. The staffs were just looking at the scenario. More than a minute has passed, we finally decided to really call their attention.
It’s not good to let your customers feel uncomfortable. Well, we could’ve ended the issue quickly by just giving alms. But the act will only make the kid more dependent so on and so forth. We had our reasons.
Exhibit 2: At this point, magbisaya na ko kay makasapot. Padabog nga gibutang sa service attendant ang utensils sa lamesa. Abi namo basi na-wrong lang mi pero iyang gi-usab pag serve sa maki roll. Ay okay… :(
Kasabot mi excited na mo mag-siesta, mao magdali nalang mi’g kaon.
If I were to dine at Ramen Dashi again, sa ibang branch na lang siguro…
Also, Ramen Dashi does not have parking spaces for their customers. It means they have to park their vehicle on the sides and pay the parking fee being charged...
Read moreFirst time eating there and I want to come back. It's too bad that they open at 11:30AM, or departure time is sadly a little earlier.
The place is very welcoming. I love the decor. My pictures don't do the place justice you should go there in person.
We had their best seller ramen called Tantanmen, the broth was so thick and buttery and full of umami. The spicyness was just try and not overpowering. The noodles were firm enough with a good mouthfeel. The price at Php 275 was quite the steal.
We also had fried gyoza but it was ok, I prefer gyoza with a little more meat. If it was steamed it would've been better but I guess there wasn't a choice in the menu.
Lastly, we had Chicken Katsu curry. The city sauce was thick and savory with the right level of spicy. The Katsu was cooked to perfection a definite must-try.
Would love to have another meal there unfortunately you don't have a branch in Butuan yet. Hoping you...
Read moreI was surprised by the quality of the ramen here. I assumed it was the usual fake ramen... but in fact.. this is genuine pork bone broth ramen. I ordered the tantanmen. The noodles were quite good but not homemade. the pork chashu was excellent and the fat was rendered. the broth was lovely. If i may make a suggestion... the ajitama egg should be soft boiled (6 minutes) and then cooled instantly in ice.. then peeled and marinaded in the pork chashu braising liquid for at least 2 days or preferably 3 days. unfortunately the egg here is hard boiled and not marinaded/cured.
the staff were excellent and very friendly. thank you to the chef for caring enough to make real ramen broth. I highly recommend...
