Dear Manok — Restaurant in Iligan

I used to frequent this place because i love chicken inasal! Who wouldn't as filipinos?! Back then, their chicken is served right off the grill, hot, juicy, and flavorful! And usually the place is packed and you'll be hard pressed to find a seat. Then a month ago, me and my daughter dani was riding around looking for a place to eat and since we were starving, we wanted to eat hungry so this is the place we missed doing it. Once inside, we chose our table and seated. There were a pretty number of staff available but it took a while for our orders to be taken. So finally a staff came and since we were starving, i ask the staff how long will it take for our food to be served. She told us about 15-20 minutes since they do not "pre-cooked" their food. But surprisingly, our order came at about 10 minutes! But to our dismay, the chicken was only slightly warm, not warm or hot enough. And it was very tough and obviously been sitting in the kitchen a long time and probably been cook many hours earlier. And our kinilaw also looked like it's been prepared many hours earlier because it was already cooked and tough and pale. The food was a dismal and i demanded to replace the chicken inasal with a freshly cooked one which they did but not with a freshly cooked but something better. Too bad, i didn't expect it to be like that and the timing was really bad. Even the softdrinks that i ordered that came in a glass was mediocre. I hope this will serve as a constructive criticism for this place. Their branch in cdo is way better and my brother go there often. It sad when something like this happen to places you used to love. Hands down the best chicken you’ll ever taste IN THE WORLD! My girlfriend and I visited Iligan City for family AND specifically for this restaurant. I’ve dined in all kinds of restaurants in the United States and around the world (including Michelin star restaurants).

In the category of grilled chicken meals, Dear Manok is the absolute best! I’ve never tasted anything that comes close to their chicken. Every bite combined with rice, sauce, and atsara is heavenly!

The restaurant looked a lot different and used to be more aesthetically beautiful but since the pandemic they changed things up to accommodate more tables.

But overall, I definitely recommend Dear Manok for a unique and orgasmic food...

I just noticed this place is a go to for graduate students who wants to celebrate and dine with their fam and friends.😂😍 Anyways, I love the halo-halo, unfortunately we weren't able to get the Buko HaloHalo as it wasn't available.
