ALIBAR — Restaurant in Legazpi

Visited this restaurant as it's apparently a bit of an institution based off the other reviews.

The food was very solid but would not really wow you (which is a big ask of course). I would have no issue eating here again on future visits to the city. Quite affordable too which gets it an extra half star.

Alibar Chicken Special (P250 for a half order) is fried chicken doused in a sweet red sauce. It's not quite sweet and sour chicken but I've seen at least one other lcoal restaurant (in Quezon City too) with a similar offering. Still unusual for me so plus points. Large serving but chicken was just alright.

Canton Guisado (P75) follows the trend of safe, unspectacular, familiar food served cheaply.

Blueberry cheesecake (P90) was ok as well. The cream cheese is not puro but the gelatin was not...

Tried Alibar today with my friend for the first time. Their food & service was great! The food was cooked well and the meat was tender. They were very accommodating too. Overall the restaurant had a very home-y vibe to it. I recommend their carrot cake! The Alibar Specials are great too, I loved the fried chicken. It was cooked to perfection. Will definitely come back again to try more...

This is a treasure of Legazpi. My wife said it is one of the oldest restaurants and she was used to go there as a child with her family.. indeed, it doesn't shine as the new restaurants in the malls, but it is super yummy and not too expensive (at least, not more expensive than that mall restaurant chains).
