Reyes Barbeque — Restaurant in Makati

So I just have to share this horrible experience ordering take out from REYES BBQ.

I stopped by a Reyes BBQ branch on Salcedo St. Lagaspi Village. Its a small shop, busy with take out and pick up orders from delivery drivers. We orded 4 BBQ sticks and a luglog to take out. I was told 14 minutes wait for the luglog. I replied fine - we ordered and shared a molo soup while waiting. The molo was a quick - 3 mins wait. The 2 delivery drivers waited, got their orders, and left. Our take out was still not available.

At this point, I stood up to ask how much longer - counter lady told the guy to work quicker? He was cooking while organizing his supply and they were doing some audits or whatever. I looked at my online payment and noticed, its been 35 minutes wait na. The lady apologized then went to the back. I could hear her call out the guy for not minding the time. She even said, ung tinapa nasaan na? I asked what was taking so long, she said the noodles. I stood at the corner, displaying my impatience at a 15 min wait that is now 40 mins. Other buyers came in. Lady came back to counter to take other buyers orders.

She returned to the back to help the other guy get orders out faster. While they were partially covered by a kitchen wall, I could see both stoves. I saw the lady remove a plastic packet from the boiling pot and placed the noodles in it. Then she went to the covered area again and came back with a pan and started cooking down what looked like a solid lulog sauce (I suspected from the pack) she just pulled out from the pot where the noodles were placed too.

I was SHOCKED!!! So I asked the lady, Do you defrost frozen sauce in a pot of boiling water? She said - in the steamer.... Oh, and do you boil noodles in a steamer... She did not reply realizing, she was caught. At this point, I am upset with what I saw. Food contamination in full display. So I asked her point blank.

So ang sauce ni defrost sa boiling pot na gamit sa pagluto ng noodles? Eh di kasama plastic sa ingredients ng luglog? Yan ba cooking standard ninyo or nag short cut kasi delay na?

Translate: Do you guys defrost frozen packs of sauce in a boiler and then use that same water to cook noodles? If I had not called out the delay would the sauce and noodles cook togeher in one boiler or you were shortcutting since the food is delayed?So effectively, plastic is part of your luglog recipe?

I said this is terrible, you are making people eat plastic and make your customer pay for it! Sorry but I am not getting that luglog, return my money.

The only order I took was the BBQ which which I saw was cooked WITHOUT THE plastic package on their salamander grill.

SHUCKS!!!!! Nakakaloka at nakaka takot.... And this is why we have this increase in cancer peeps. Plastics is known carcinogen. How many sauces or food is served to us with plastic container defrosted or cooked together with the food???? Tayo na ang nagbayad ng PBA sa...

All staffs are professional and friendly. Delicious barbeque and noodles. Mr. David Dalisay as one of the staff...

30 mins to get food. Lunch time over before you can eat. They should cook in batches not one by one. Not...
