I was expecting the food to wow me based on the high ratings.
However, the food was just ok especially if you've visited Taiwan before. It pales in comparison.
We ordered the large beef noodle soup, mushroom and vegetable dumplings, and chicken over fried rice.
The "large" beef noodle soup was extremely small. I would hate to see what the smaller solo portion looks like. There wasn't too many pieces of beef or noodles in the bowl as is. Just a lot of soup. However, the flavor was decent. The noodles were chewy and the beef was tender. But the soup had a slight hint of sweetness. Would have preferred it to be savory.
The mushroom and vegetable dumplings were just ok. Nothing special or spectacular. The filling lacked any depth of flavor. The inside filling was just mushroom. It would have been nice if they added different textures.
The chicken with fried rice was good. However, the chicken was mostly breading and had very little actual chicken. The fried rice was good and cooked very well but did lack substance aside from egg.
Overall, the food was ok but nothing spectacular. Unfortunately, this restaurant will not provide any comfort for any taiwanese food cravings.
Service was friendly and the food did come out quickly after ordering.
10% service charge added to bill.

Read moreThis was our first time dining at Shi Lin and also our first time using Eatigo. Sadly, it turned out to be a complete disaster — thanks to the restaurant’s absolutely ridiculous policy and their lazy, clueless manager.
We used a 20% Eatigo discount and ordered a full meal for our group. Our bill was ₱4,000 — not exactly small. When we couldn’t finish everything and asked to take the leftovers home, they refused, saying it’s not allowed because we had a discount. That’s the most illogical and customer-unfriendly policy I’ve ever encountered. We’ve eaten at many places. Why are paying customers being punished for using a legitimate promo?
To make it worse, the manager refused to even speak to us. She just stood around while the respectful staff did their best to explain. Zero professionalism, no apology, no leadership — she clearly has no business running a restaurant. Fire her.
The staff were polite and tried to help, but it was obvious they had no control over the ridiculous rule. The blame is entirely on upper management.
Terrible first impression of both Shi Lin and Eatigo....
Read moreFood was great don’t get me wrong but I’m just nitpicking here since I’ve been to multiple restaurants that serve almost the same menu:
Hakaw and Nutella Dumplings have an excessive thick wrapper based on my preference (but the taste/flavor of the fillings were great), just need to find the right balance of thickness for the wrapper not too thin as well to avoid breakage
for the Chinese Pepper Shrimp, the taste was good tbh but it’s arduous to eat it with the shell on it. Sayang yung masarap na breading if tatanggalin lang din with the shell/skin. You could opt to make it as Salted Egg shrimp din basta peeled langs
for the Salt & Pepper Squid, it could have been paired with a more complex and a little bit sweeter side of sauce
Chorizo Bun could use a sauce as well, to elevate it and make it memorable
for the pork, egg and shrimp fried rice I am looking for a richer/fatty mouthfeel, adding pork fat to portions could be great
Cucumber Lychee and Mango Sago are divine, no...
