Hello Hamakaze Ramen,
I am writing this review to express my disappointment with one of your servers, I've been a frequent customer of your ramen shop. The food is AMAZING, I love your spicy paitan ramen, gyoza and katsu curry. No shop like Yushoken could ever exceed my love with your ramen. We always comeback because of the food and other staffs that are friendly except this one. We usually dine in the evening or late at night and these things happens some of the time we dine and she's the assigned server.
We have encountered this server some time when we visit your shop. At first we thought it's just her facial expression but NO.
Three words: SHE IS OBNOXIOUS. WHY? Doesn't take a list of our order, she's not paying attention and when you are trying to order SHE JUST WALKS RIGHT AWAY without repeating the order to make sure she got it right (One time she made a mistake with our order and we have to wait again for the right food to come.) She makes this sourpuss face and ROLLING her eyes if your trying to call her attention (like asking for another bowl, additional order). Extremely rude. When some of the customers left and she's about to dish-out she started stamping the dishes on the table and door.
We would like to inform the manager/person in charge but it was a busy hour and don't wanna ruin everybody's night. I'll be honest--I came from customer service industry I KNOW how it works and how to treat customers right and this is a Japanese ramen shop (Japanese shops/servers are known to be the best customer service provider). This server will drag your business down. I would not recommend her as a front-of-the-house/hostess or server. But yeah, it will be our last visit and to your new customer please avoid this server or ask somebody else.
Atmosphere: There's been a bunch of mosquitos and fly. (No sure with the correct video format but I tried to...
Read moreWe've eaten here a lot of times and each time we visit, the ramen is still as good as it was on our first try. Truly a wonderful experience. I would always recommend Hamakaze to my friends who'd like to try the authentic Japanese ramen experience.
My personal favorite is the Spicy Paitan Ramen. If you like your ramen with a kick, I recommend this one. The broth is rich but just the right thickness. It's not overwhelming at all. You can request how chewy you want your noodles to be as well. The cured tamago is perfectly runny. It blends well with the soup. The pork cha shu is just the right thickness, it melts in your mouth but it does not break in your bowl.
If you want a non-spicy version my SO gets the Paitan Shoyu or when you feel adventurous and you're willing to have garlic breath, then there is the Black Paitan Ramen that has black garlic.
The staff is very polite! I noticed that they're an all women team! maybe they have male staff as well but I haven't seen them. Still, kudos to these amazing women!

Read moreWe went to the shop around 12am of July 11. My teammates and I went there to gather for lunch. It was my second time visiting this restaurantant so I wanted to explore other dishes and ordered the Natto Paitan. My other teammates ordered the other Paitan dishes as well. I noticed the fermented bean topping smelled like vomit but didnt care much because maybe thats how fermented beans should smell like.
Noon of July 11 came and I experienced a bad stomach ache, diarrhea, and vomiting. Evening came and I asked my workmates if they also experienced an upset stomach and 3 more teammates confirmed they were feeling unwell. 3 including me have experienced vomiting. 1 had only diarrhea. I am now sitting here giving this review with a 38 degree Celsius fever.
Please have your kitchen or ingredients checked as this experience has been very dissapointing and life threatening. Not coming back to this place anymore even though I loved your Paitan ramen...
