My Wife and I passed by Bulalohan sa Laon Laan two days ago and we enjoyed the food we ordered. The inihaw na pusit was big and it was cooked perfectly. In fact, we still ate it the following day (leftover) and it was still good. Fillings inside are fresh and the squid was actually full. I prefer dipping it in soy sauce with kalamansi and chilli, it's better than the atchara and oyster sauce served. We also ordered for ensaladang talong, it's a bit small but it tasted good. We also had liempo steak, it tastes good but somehow it was a bit small in serving. Still, we enjoyed it. Plating of all food was good, it's not the typical grill-plating compared to other ihawan, and even my Wife was surprised since it wasn't like that when they first visited Bulalohan. The melon juice was also good. The staff in the dining area were all courteous and they attended to our needs in an instant. The newly renovated CR looked nice. Maybe they are still in the process of renovating the whole resto since some areas look old compared to the other side which was newly painted. Street-parking, so it's up to you to take the risk, but there was a guy who will assist you as to where to park. Ordering is old-school like, the waitress was taking down your orders in a small piece of paper, hand it over to the cashier for the payment and change, then get a number, and wait for your orders. Once sitted, you'll get a refillable bulalo soup. I wasn't able to order bulalo though, but next visit, will definitely order one. The place is a bit small so don't get disappointed if all tables are occupied. It's the typical bulalohan, so don't look for anything like Instagrammable-fine-dining-ambiance. Just enjoy their food and the...
Read moreFood could be better. (Rice was undercooked) Serving is too little for the price. They offer those thin plastic cups. (I was expecting at least decent ones. It can be an opportunity for improvement.) Staff were all nice naman. Roadside parking and attendant was nice.
Meron lang Isang guy that roams inside the dining area na "may sayad" daw who asks for money..
His words exactly were...
"Pengeng Bente..."
When I smiled and asked "bakit may specific amount?" He just replied... "Sapakin kita eh.." which triggered me to tell him na "wag mong gagawin yan sir".
Then I asked one of the staff sa grilling station if he's one of their employees and he and the parking attendant confirmed that this guy had been freely doing this inside the store and it's customers.
To me, it can be a safety hazard for all customers. Wag nalang sana umabot na mag cause Ng trouble ung taong yon. I just fear that something worse could happen. Which brings me to deciding not to come back. (I'm just one customer anyways. So, di sya kawalan for sure sa kanila.)
I just want a safe place to dine...
Read moreGood food, but poor service
The food we ordered was really delicious. Their bulalo is one of the best we've tried, even better than the ones in Tagaytay.
But sadly, the service was very bad. We were told the restaurant opens at 6:00 PM, so we arrived 10 minutes early. But we had to wait almost an hour before they actually let people in. Even at 6:00 PM, the staff were still cleaning and setting up the tables. We didn’t understand why they were not ready by opening time.
There were many staff members, but most of them were just standing around and not helping. Some didn’t understand what we were asking or couldn’t follow up our orders properly.
The funny part is, when we were done eating, it took four staff just to clean our table. It felt like they were not well-trained or managed properly.
The food is really worth trying, but I hope they improve their service. It would make the whole experience so...
