Mr. Taste Halal Restaurant — Restaurant in Olongapo

We came by this place to get our usual Pakistani and Indian food fix when in Subic Bay. We've been visiting Mr. Taste on a few occasions in the past and noticed the slight improvement in food quality and selection compared to pre-pandemic times. I wouldn't exactly call ourselves regulars at this restaurant, but they were good enough to be on our food radar if we craved this particular kind of cuisine.

However, my recent dinner visit last May 27 2023, was a complete disaster. The Curry Pakora we had was mildy rancid and our Chicken Biryani was unusually dry and bland. It was just not up to simple standards and basically inedible. Ontop or that, one of the waitresses was doing accounting work at one of the tables while another took her eating break at the table behind us. This left one other waitress to attend to the rest of the tables, while not getting any help from her two colleagues. I was not able to get the attention of the waitress doing accounting, nor the waitress who was eating. The waitress eating behind me couldn't be bothered to attend or call the only other waitress on duty. It was just plain bad. A compete lack of cooperation and management.

Would I come back to this place again? Probably not, until they get their whole act together and seriously improve. There's a restaurant called Gourmet Garage next door to it which has far better service and a decent food selection which is quite good. The moral of the story here is, good quality indian and Pakistani food isn't (currently) found...

I love eating middle eastern food, i'd say it is Super yummy!

Chicken biryani, taste really autentic. Butter nan and the rotti is a bit oily, but tolerable.

Chicken masala serving is good. Can be good for sharing or single order. I love the taste of it, the indian/pakistani taste is there but not overpowering . Since I was served with rotti, I'd suggest to remove the bones. Bones are good experience if paired with the rice.

Fried chicken for kids, taste really bland but when paired with basmati rice it was amazingly good. I didn't even touched the ketchup.

Lassy is a good finisher. It compliments all the food we ordered

For the Bill, I'm really surprise how affordable the food was. It's not cheap and it's not expensive as well. Overall, i love the taste...

The food is quite good to be honest. It is much better than it was previously when I would frequent this establishment in 2019. The menu selections seem to have grown a bit and are clearer to understand this time around. The 2 lady waitresses (Lea and Vans) were friendly and polite too.

As for the interior and atmosphere of the place, don't expect too much.byoull see what I mean the moment you step in. But not to worry, the food is it's saving grace, which is decently priced. That's what I was after.

Considering there isn't any other alternative restaurants (to my knowledge) who serve this kind of cuisine inside Subic Bay, this isn't a bad choice at all, if you're craving...
