The Reef — Restaurant in Panglao

Unfortunately, this establishment engages in questionable practices to suppress or discredit negative reviews. I feel it’s my responsibility to ensure potential visitors are aware of the reality.

The bar fosters a toxic atmosphere. I used to frequent this place regularly but stopped after witnessing an appalling incident. A particularly large and aggressive customer was openly hurling racial slurs at others, creating an extremely hostile environment. Shockingly, this happened right in front of the manager, who chose to do absolutely nothing despite my complaint. It was as if such behavior was entirely acceptable there—a truly disgraceful display of indifference.

The food is overpriced, and its quality fluctuates significantly depending on the chef’s mood. The frequent turnover of chefs only adds to the inconsistency, making it a gamble whether you’ll be served something decent. That said, their chicken wings are reasonably good.

In summary, if you're seeking a quality experience—be it in atmosphere, management standards, or food consistency—this is not the place for you. I cannot, in good conscience,...

It's much more of a dump then the pictures lead you to believe

Edit.....to the owner. If you read my review you would realize I was comparing your pictures to the actual location. Nowhere in your pictures are linen tablecloths, so I don't really get your point. Dive bars are cool, but there's no reason they can't be clean What I can suggest however is tiddying up the bar area a bit because it's really disgusting also start with removing the piles of garbage and many trash bins that are literally in front of your establishment near where people are seated.......that might be a good start to not be so much of a dump. Lose the tablecloths insecurity and start with basics. It really felt like your place wouldn't pass a health inspection.....if such a thing we're to exist...

Lovely place and staff, especially Albert. :) We went there several times and we always enjoyed it there. One night there also has been a live music event, which was great. The owner (Doug) - a Canadian - is a hospitable and decent guy.

Whoever stays at Panglao and is looking for an authentic place without any bling-bling should go there.
