Trigger warning: Cockroach found in iced coffee
I ordered iced coffee through the McDonalds Delivery App. The branch is Sucat San Antonio (across the street from SM BF), where I order my coffee regularly for years now.
This time however, I noticed something weird on the first sip. I drank something that felt like hair. So, I checked the clear lid and saw what seemed like a floating bug in it. For transparency, I used a clean straw at home for my coffee. Had I not used a straw, I could have swallowed the insect whole.
Shaking in fear and disgust, I took a video as I removed the taped cup lid. There, lo and behold, was a dead cockroach floating on top of the iced coffee! It was resting in peace on the ice cubes, missing an antenna, which was perhaps the one I felt while drinking.
After taking the video, I reported the issue to the McDo app live chat. A few minutes later, the branch manager called me saying sorry. The said branch manager also tried to offer a food item for exchange, but I rejected any food item from them.
It no longer makes sense to accept any food or drinks from the said branch, as pest infestations are a serious food safety issue.
Cockroaches are nocturnal insects. They would come usually out at night and hide during the day. Therefore, if you could see a cockroach landing on a served drink at daytime, chances are, it has already multiplied in hundreds, if not thousands! The bugs could have been hiding anywhere in the crevices of the kitchen, as they can already reach the food items.
Based on the call I received, I see no resolution from this unfortunate incident.
What could be done to prevent such issues from happening again?
As of this writing, there are no pest control updates (or plans to do so) from the said branch.
Food safety and cleanliness is a sign of respect for the customers. I did not experience this today.
I am sending a formal report of this incident to the proper...

If they don't give you the wrong flavors they.give you an unsealed chicken nugget pack that oozes out and covers the inside of your takeout pack in sauce. I noticed a pack with some sauce on the outside of it, thinking it may have been sauce from another pack that was removed and thrown out. Nope, it was the actual pack that was leaking. Nothing is never nothing with this location.
