Extraordinary stay ! Two adults plus one 9 years old boy. We stayed in one bedroom suite with one kingsize bed and extra bed for our child. The suite was well equipped, spacious and most important: with wonderful, direct sea view which we really loved. Beds were very comfortable, we slept well. Dive resort is increadible well managed, you can tell in on every step, from first e-mail contact with Angel - resort manager who was very heplful, to welcome at arrival. Diving was wonderful - an underwarter paradise, especially for underwater photographgers. The reef is in great shape, from small and tiny creatures to larger animals and coral reef formations. This is what we missed in Lembeh, for comparison to Puerto Gallera. What we loved the most: 2 moring dives and 2 afternoon dives. After every dive you come back to Scandi, 30 minutes break and go diving again. It was very important for us because we stayed with our 9 years old son who cannot dive yet. But he had good time at resot while parents were diving. Every person from personel was very friendly and helpful. Again, we were very impressed how this resort is managed, perfection I must admit. After diving we loved playing pool/billiards with our son. Food was like in 5 star hotel - no joke. For every breakfast, lunch and dinner you could choose a big variety of food - great solution. For example: 5 choices of breakfast or 3 choices for lunch - NICE! Another great thing: Happy hours in bar start at 5 am to 7 am - nice. Oh, the bar was a huge variety of drinks. Our dive guide: Freky - such a nice person, always smiling. Underwater he showed us incredible critters and fish. The resort has a well equiped camera room. And there are a lot of interesting books which are in camera room - you can educate yourself - I was very impressed with it. Very professional approach I must admit. Another great thing about Scandi Resort: the location in perfect -away from street crowds. We walked to the city and we must say that other resorts were very close to main public street which is quite crowded. Scandi is located further away from the main streets, we really appreciated this. Our trip took place in July: rainy season, but to be honest, for our 7 day stay, only one day was with rain, all other days we had sun. Our recommendations: to get to Scandi from Manilla/mainland: get yourself a private water taxi - it is quite expensive but very fast. It is really worth it. book nitrox package in advance - it pays off -go to Verde Island - Scandi goes there once a week. It is a MUST. Huge aggregations of fish. Corals are there outstanding book yourself a massage after diving. You will feel like in heaven
Also worth mentioning: no mosquitoes here. And one more thing: the Philipinians really take care of envirnoment: underwater you do not see any garbage/plastic. During our stay there was "Padi womans day" - it was nice to see people celebrating it. After it, ladies clead up the beach - respect for it.
To sum up: Scandi was choosen the best dive operator in Philipines and Pacific Ocean - we can assure you that is is true. You will notice it from the first minutes you get here. A wonderful dive adventure. We will come back here next year when our son gets 10 years old and we will dive together here again. Everybody there is...
Read moreI arrived at Scandi Divers on one of my many trips diving in the far East and little did I know how deferent and eye opening this trip would be. Typical of the many dive hotels in this part of the world it was warm and friendly from day one with very attentive dedicated staff, however, what puts this hotel and staff into the outstanding category occurred two days before I was due to leave. I felt ill, thinking I had picked up some sort of food poisoning bug I requested the girls on the front desk to see if they could get me to a clinic, this is where a well oiled procedure kicked in, I was whisked away firstly to one clinic where a young lady GP spotted something wrong with my appendix and then within minutes I was being transported through the jungle to the Hospital in Calapan city. During this time my appendix ruptured and the clock was now ticking. Cutting a long story short Appendix removed saved my life but now stuck in the Philippines as my homeward plane had departed and I was not allowed to fly.|This is where Scandi went above and beyond anything you could expect from your average dive hotel operation. In hospital in the Philippines you require a companion Scandi sent initially John the Tuk Tuk driver and then after a day they sent Cynthia, both of which never left my side and acted as interpreters, in fact when I was lying in the operating theatre I swear I saw John standing in the corner making sure I was OK. On leaving the hospital I was whisked back to Scandi to be looked after by the whole team there, unbeknown to me there was so much more going on in the background , Young Angel making relevant phone calls, the front desk watching every move I made, the serving staff watching and making notes of everything I ate, and of course the dive crew who had been looking after all the photographic and diving gear in my absence, I wish I could name them all but rest assured my memory of all of you I will carry for the rest of my life. I had become part of the Scandi family for which I am deeply grateful. During this traumatic time there was a light at the end of the tunnel, and carrying that light was Cynthia, every day she was there from 6.00 in the morning making sure I had my medication, she dressed my wound and cleaned me, not an every day job for a seamstress but always with a smile, a friendship that will last the test of time. I must not forget my dive buddies Rosemary and Ken who worked tirelessly behind the scenes during my hospital stay. Rest assured if you go to Scandi you will be looked after, however if push comes to shove, and I hope it doesn't, you couldn't be in a...
Read moreEvery aspect of our stay, the room, food, diving, service, you name it, it was excellent or better.|This is the best diving I've ever experienced. The boat was right there on the beach, our gear was loaded for us, the marine life was so varied and abundant it was ridiculous. Boat crew, gear handlers, divemaster, all professionals, every day. I need say no more. I'm one of those "hands off me" guys. I only said it once. Never saw any gear being mishandled, and due to previous experiences I watch. Stopped watching after day 3... |The room was clean. We had a penthouse room, so it was bigger than most, but was also the farthest walk. The shower was awesome. The shower head was at 7 feet. Plenty of hot water and a drain that worked. The AC worked well. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were soft. The towels were better than I have at home. Outlets are "fits all". |The food was excellent. Only one night did I not care for the menu board options, so they made me a fantastic cheeseburger. There are some things I just don't eat. |Service. All the various things come down to service. Nothing here was ever less than excellent. First day to the last. When they say "Mabuhay!", they obviously mean it. |Have you ever seen contempt behind a smile? I have, but not here. It's like we were the reason for them being here.. Everybody! Everyday.|After my 18th and last dive, I tried out the bar. Again, three Mai Tais mixed perfectly and as good as they went down, they were beautiful to look at.|They took such good care of us, it was almost embarrassing. I could get used to that...|I was sad to leave... I took lots of pictures and videos underwater and a few topside. |I can't say enough. |This place is a team of very good people doing their best to give you the best experience possible. |I hope to return.. |I'm not sure a non diver would feel the same. It's a dive resort, not a beach resort. Technically I guess there's a beach.. not much of one.|There was a nice looking TV in the room. I...
