Not feeling great about writing this, but had to write so as the problem is taken care of.
Firstly, good things: The ambience of the place is fantastic, beautiful plants everywhere with some good books on the shelf. Food is good in taste and the menu offers a lot for a vegan/vegetarian. It is presented also in a beautiful way. We came here yesterday and we had a good time and good food. The staff is also very good, all the ladies.
After having a good experience yesterday, we came back again today and ordered Ver de Burger, Caesar wrap and Blueberry pancake, all the things were very good in taste, except one thing, we found a LIVE WORM 🐛in the caesar wrap, literally like this emoji!! This was like a shock to us, I can understand the Chef saying that they use Organic produce and it has happened in the past also with other customers, my suggestion is to wash the greens very thoroughly and whoever is cooking, he or she should keep a sharp eye on any kind of living being! (Given it has happened previously also, thats why writing this to treat this URGENTLY)
The intention to write this review is not to mailgn the place or people (they are wonderful), but to treat this issue as an IMPORTANT and URGENT one, so that it does not happen with anyone again EVER.
(Me and my wife and our kid are praying that we don't suffer any Food poisoning later! If it happens with anybody the complete trip/vaction can be ruined)
Not to take away the credit from staff in treating this issue maturely, the chef and everybody came and apologized, removed the caesar wrap from bill (of course) , gave 20% discount and a free smoothie!
But in the end restaurant owner and workers need to understand the most important thing is quality of produce and it's handling.
Some other suggestions: it is ok for customers to suggest the nearby hotel's washroom but they should ensure that there is handwash for the people to use (hygiene of the food and the eater goes together)
I hope this review finds the owner and people in good spirit!
Edited: updating my rating to 1 star, would have given zero if it was the option. Reason: Even after 10+ days, no response from the owner on this review but he/she gave response to other reviews posted after my review. Very sad attitude even after the review written in...
Read moreThe Why Notchos and Cali Salad and Lasagna are fantastic - a regular order. The staff are some of the best in the world. The owner is non-responsive to e-mail and the two biggest downsides to the restaurant are:
No soup. It's the easiest way to have a plant-based starter faster than 30 minutes and there is simply no soup on the menu. Soup has an added bonus of being non-fattening and re-hydrating.
No deserts. There is the odd cookie or boring cake that is all bread. Sorbets would be perfect for these dishes and fast. However, coconut flan, mango danish pastries, coconut yogurt and fresh fruit, fruit platters, fresh coconut in a shell and many more options are just waiting to double the amount of times I'm willing to visit in a week.
The pancakes are too thick and big for one person and don't have enough fruit to offset the missing butter. I would make them twice as thin and add frozen strawberries and peaches fried in rum.
There was a "vasta pasta" or something dish that was very boring.
The earl gray tea is way overpowered with citrus smelling like perfume so I can't taste the bergamot - a waste. I'd go with lavender earl gray and 70% less citrus.
The lasagna was perfect!
The smoothies are also pretty perfect - well flavored and designed.
I suggest wi-fi passwords on the menu cover as both a QR code and password - those papers blow away most of the time with the fan and it...
Read moreMy husband and I found this place by poor chance and we were thrilled!!! With no doubt, we had the best food we have had in the last two weeks in The Philippines. When people say vegan food is boring os because they have not tried restaurants like Ver De. The ingredients were super fresh, the spices and flavours were balance, unique and tasty; and on top of that great value for what you paid. I had the happy bowl and it was gorgeous. The falafel was beautifully cooked and the mix of fresh vegetables and tahini sauce was amazing! My husband tried the banh mi and he also loved it. It was a big sandwich full of flavours. For dessert we shared the banana crunch pancake and woooooow fluffy pancakes, with crunchy granola, banana and chocolate sauce. It was de-li-cious!!!! Also, we loved coffee, and again it was the best one we have had in Philippines. Hot (like proper hot) and a great one. The golden turmeric coffee with vanilla was super nice and comforting. I would definetely come to this place again and again and again. And the good news, they also have a restaurant in El Nido. Honestly, I must try. Lastly, the team was very friendly, professional and super nice. And the atmosphere was great, a really nice quiet place to enjoy a great meal and chill. Price is higher than other places but totally worthy! Truly healthy food at a great quality without...
