Ribshack — Restaurant in Puerto Princesa

(Mar 2025) Oops, looks like I spoke too soon. Shrinkflation is getting worse and it sucks! The reduced serving size of the menu items is disappointing. What's the use of unlimited rice refills if there's just not enough ulam (viands)? The backribs have been reduced by half but still cost around php300. It still tastes good but now it's just...bitin. Seems the staff are not as happy as well. They were just going thru the motions. When asked why they don't open another counter since the line was backed up and snaked all the way to the end of the mall, it seemed (that's good news for them, I guess), the cashier just nonchalantly replied, "staff didn't report for work". Long wait times also mean bigger crowds cramped into the limited space. A/C seemed non-existent, also. I hope they can still do something and turn things around. Meanwhile, have to take away 1 star until the situation improves. Will come back and check again soon...

(Jan 2025) Good food, reasonable price, fast service, free rice refills,...what's not to like? If I had to have one gripe, though, it would be with regard to their water station. I don't mind the self-service, but since they started, it's always been a big water jug with a spout that their staff regularly fills with water and ice. I initially thought it was because they just opened and had no other option but it stuck and has remained until now. Even when they opened their Robinsons branch, they used a water jug again as if they wanted to replicate the same store experience. I mean, wouldn't it be more convenient for everyone (staff and customers alike) to just install an electric water dispenser? More hygienic, too. Anyway, rant over. I still love Ribshack, even with shrinkflation. I understand it is a choice between increasing prices or reducing serving size. When we enter to place order we have to wait because 1 cashier is turning over her sales while the other POS is out.

The cashier, service crew and the manager are not warm to us, no smile, hi or welcome how we can serve you.

The service crew provide installment the food and we have to ask one by one the condiments, water and our spoon and fork.

They play their music loud. I have to ask them to volume down.

A nice place for good food and unlimited rice. 😅 If you are looking for a different kind of menu from the usual chicken plus unli rice combo, look no further. Ribshack offers a different combo (they also offer chix + rice), like backribs, barbecue (4pcs!), BANGUS (❤️), and etc. And all their foods are offered in the Filipino all-time favourite, UNLIMITED RICE. 🍚
