Since we were around the area, we encountered D'Original Pares, a place we once visited in the past and had fond memories of, so we decided to eat there again. There weren't a lot of people at the time, and we took a minute or two while looking at the menu because they had a vast selection of silog meals, pares dishes, desserts, and drinks.
My mother chose the chop suey rice while I opted for a porksilog, and both of us took a lemonade as our drink. The service was incredibly swift because there weren't a lot of people, and surprisingly, it was quite hot, which I liked. ⭐
The pork chop itself has a perfect amount of breading and meat, so it tastes quite savory, yet there's a lingering salty aftertaste; the single sunny-side-up egg is wonderfully cooked; the rice is freshly hot; and I loved the sour yet refreshing flavor of the lemonade. Read moreIt is cheaper than a resto that serves pares but expensive than a street karinderya. Their fried rice is just rice with some "strings" of eggs and I don't see any garlic or even veggies! That's much expensive than a plain rice that I should've order instead of a "fried rice. " Their pares is okay but still pares retiro is still superior imho and the atmosphere is like a huge karinderya with a lot of usual pinoy foods like sisig, bulalo, mami etc for the menu.
It gets crowded especially during midday and if you're in a group expect that you'll be sharing tables with someone or a dude eating alone. Service is okay but needed improvement especially on how will they take note the orders of their customers.
Overall it's okay for a large karinderya but for a resto they needed...

This new location looks to be a better one, less exposed to the traffic of Commonwealth Ave. The menu has been slightly revised, but most of the old favorites, like Pares, Lomi, Sizzling Sisig and Chopsuey are still there. Pricing is a bit higher, but the size of the portions of the orders make this restaurant good value for money. I have to note that it has improved cleanliness-wise as well. Parking though is still a challenge, and is smaller than the previous location. However, this is a place where you can get your "fix" when you are craving a decent,...
