Mien San Noodle House 面膳 — Restaurant in Quezon City

Unfortunately half of the food we ordered is unavailable. But those we did get were good.

Chicken and leeks was juicy and perfectly seasoned. We were supposed to get the whole order but was told half na lng available 😅

Polonchay was unavailable so we got the fried garlicy Taiwanese pechay. Weirdly chopped but good.

Spicy wontons were just as I remembered, hot and savory. Sauce was a weird but addictive mix of tangy, sweet and hot chili.

Noodles were firm and bouncy, got some of the pulled ends too 😅 broth was simple but comforting.

There was a lot of shouting from the lady behind the cashier desk but I'm sure she meant well when she said 'its sold out' so many times 😅

All in all, you know it's a legit food place when you see aunties and uncles walk in and demand why their usuals are 'sold out" ! 🤭

Parking is a pain but hopefully the food makes up...

I have been to Mien San nearly half a dozen times, and each time was a terrific delight. Do not be discouraged by the bedraggled interiors; clearly the owners invested on taste and comfort over visuals. Everything, practically everything is comfort food delicious, with just a bit of extra effort to make it excellent. The yang chow rice is the meatiest and flavorful I have ever encountered. The oyster cake is always chewy and brimming with big oysters. I prefer the spartan fish vegetable soup because it clears the palate with its strong ginger. Ask for their appetizer to be soy sauce okra, because, well, how many times can you encounter savory okra? Plus the staff is practically on steroids, with supersonic service. Mien San has one of the more affordable prices in terms of cuisine. My wife and I ordered Century Egg with Tofu, deep fried spare ribs, yangchow fried rice and fried pork chop.

All were very flavorful and while what we ordered were mostly deep fried, the coating and the marinade of the meats were special and shows that the recipe was very much thought of.

I have no qualms with the food but I do have them in the service that affects the ambiance. The cashier/manager of the store shouts a lot and curses a lot when something doesn't go her way i.e. delivery order in Grab has something the resto doesn't have.
