Located in Matimtiman is Tripod's Pizza, an independent pizza place. Their wares are an in between of Shakey's and Gino's.
We ate around 1:30 ish on a Sunday, with no other customers being in the area. The dining area is pretty tight, only being able to serve around 12 people. One of us went to the toilet, and found it very smelly and unclean. Not ideal.
Our party ordered the Detroit style pepperoni pizza, the Kenstein pizza, western palabok pasta, pesto pasta, the truffle pasta, and the Bolognese.
The pizzas were good, but honestly not amazing. The Detroit style pepperoni pizza felt like cheese and pepperoni on french toast instead of a pizza pie, taste was good though. The Kenstein pizza kinda lacked a little flavor.
The pastas were a mixed bag as well. The western palabok was good, but did not feel like a great twist to traditional palabok. Pesto lacked flavor. Bolognese was okay, had better. Truffle pasta was actually good.
Would I eat here again? Sure, but it wouldn't be my first choice for great pizza. I'm willing to give it another shot, but probably not...
Read moreWe went here around 1:30pm and luckily there were 2 free seats in the bar table. Place was very small. There were a total of 12 seats iirc. 2 big tables that could fit 4 pax each and a bar table which could fit 4 people. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. They didn’t have any service water so you would have to buy water if you were to dine-in. Parking was also hard to find so I would suggest parking in another street.
We ordered their UTI and double cheese pizza. The double cheese was standard but their UTI pizza was really good! The pepperonis weren’t overwhelming despite the amount and the sauce on top complimented it perfectly! Crust was soft and chewy which was good. We ordered too much for 2 people and had the leftovers to-go and when we ate it at home (without heating it up) the dough was still good!
Overall great pizza! I just hope they would have more seats for dine in or have a bigger branch. We would definitely be back to try out their Detroit...
Read moreI tried the pepperoni pizza. Not overly salty and oily unlike some popular restaurants’. The dough was salted very well as well so it didn’t rely completely on the sauce for flavor. Tomato sauce was just right. Herby and flavorful. I preordered and picked it up a bit late though. But based on the char and the color of the dough, it may have been crispy. I will definitely try it again and dine in instead.
Update: I dined in this time and the pizza was served fresh from the oven. Not very oily. The shrimp was not tough and still has most of its flavor. Alfalfa sprouts were also very fresh. Not a single one was wilted. The pesto penne was also good. Sauce tastes fresh and the pasta was very al dente. It was a bit dry, probably needs more olive oil.
Update Feb 8, 2025 Their pulled pork sandwich is good! Moist and fresh. Very flavorful. The Po’ boy samdwich taste excatly like the Hipon pizza. Their focaccia bread is also good. It would be better if there’s...
