A Delightful Dining Experience at Aroi Makmak Thai Cafe and Restaurant

During our recent visit to San Juan, Siquijor, we had the pleasure of dining twice at Aroi Makmak Thai Cafe and Restaurant and it was an experience worth sharing. Located along the serene beachfront, this charming restaurant effortlessly combines stunning views with delectable Thai cuisine.

Upon our first visit, we noticed that the service was slightly delayed, which seemed to be due to unforeseen circumstances. However, any impatience quickly faded as soon as the food arrived. Each dish was a testament to the chef's skill and authenticity, brimming with vibrant flavors that transported us straight to Thailand. The Pad Thai, green curry, and mango sticky rice are absolute must-tries!

The restaurant's ambiance added significantly to the experience. With a prime location by the beach, we enjoyed the soothing sound of waves and a breathtaking sunset as we dined. The open-air setup and thoughtful decor created a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.

We were so impressed with our first meal that we decided to return for another. On our second visit, we made sure to book a table in advance, which I highly recommend, especially if you want a spot close to the beach. It ensured a hassle-free experience and the best seats in the house.

Aroi Makmak Thai Cafe and Restaurant is a true gem in Siquijor, offering not only excellent food but also an atmosphere that elevates the dining experience. Whether you're a local or a traveler, this is a spot you shouldn't miss. Just remember to make a reservation during peak hours for the...

Dining at Aroi Makmak was definitely a savory experience. It stood to its hype, and it did not disappoint. One of my current favorite food stops in Siquijor.

First off, we were given a great welcome once we entered the establishment. They were cheerful and really gave a positive vibe. The server was also very kind. She was able to answer the questions that we had and also gave recommendations. They were also very attentive. Their wait time was also accurate.

Now, the food was definitely delicious. It had the aroma, spice and taste you are looking for in Thai dishes. My favorite was the Pad Thai. It didn't matter if I was somewhat sweating from the spiciness of it, I was still eating because I really loved its taste (you can have a non-spicy option too if you want, I believe). The other dishes were also tasty. The servings were also big enough to fill your stomach and even share with others.

Aroi Makmak also has a great dining place. It has an outdoor seating where you can see the sea and somewhat feel its breeze. I do not know if it was because we were a large group (for a small table, but not too large for a large table) but our table was sort of crowded when the dishes arrived, so we were limited in terms of mobility. We were able to eat our food, so it was good, nonetheless.

Aroi Makmak is sulit and definitely...

came a couple of days ago and there was no empty tables so i came today early(around 15:00) to have something small and make a booking for the same evening.ordered papaya salad , sticky rice and a beer . papaya salad arrived but sticky rice nowhere to be seen for the next ten minutes so i asked the waiter and the rice arrived within five more minutes.then asked for a different beer (than before) and started eating already annoyed . no beer arrived and when i asked they answered that the beer that i wanted was not cold enough ,but nobody came to let me know . all this time the waitress was at the bar on the phone with i guess the owner going over the credit card receipts and cash receipts of the previous days ,all on loudspeaker .not very professional in my opinion …. the food was excellent but unfortunately i cancelled my booking for the same evening . what a pity …..the staff seemed like they did not really care for what they are doing ( except for the girl behind the bar who apologized nicely )

my honest apologies to all concerned but i think that problems that are not mentioned can not be solved .as a professional myself i would like to know all the problems of my business...

other costs and more thoughts below 🧜‍♀️✨💭 This vlog was a day in Siquijor and the entire day cost 2145 PHP or approx $38. Places I went in the vlog: @fireflytreehouselazi cafe Lagaan Falls Paliton beach Aron Makmak Thai Mad Monkey Hostel Ok now more talk about other costs of this trip… My travel insurance is $45.08 per month. I have a plan through @safteywing2024 . Flights from Denver > LAX > Taiwan > Manila cost $586. I could’ve used points but the conversion wasn’t ideal. Then my flight from Manila > Cebu was $70. The upfront costs of the trip were about $500. This included my @leftonfriday swimsuit, @rei backpack, the swim tops from @freepeople , and a few misc items (extra memory cards, film, @gopro attachments). Everything else I already had or was gifted to me via friends or family. I think the $1500 for mountain summits will be pretty on par. Climbing Mt. Kinabalu with a Via Ferrata route is 2875 RM which is about $610. I was able to book an “add on” spot in a group since I’m joining by myself, otherwise I got quotes above 3000 RM. It looks like most of the Indonesia summits are around $150-300 per trek. Yes, it’s a lot of money but that’s what I came on this trip to do. I want to get as many summits as I can while I’m over here. There are a few summits I’ll do by myself to lower costs (where allowed). My overall mindset is spend little on food, accommodation and transport so I can take that money and put it towards the things I really want to do. Let me know if you have any questions :) 💃🏼 @ciaradentx @olivia_cusackk @dannymaling #solofemalebackpacker #seasiatravel

Food was just okay. Nothing special. Staff were friendly, but honestly felt disappointed with the experience. We tried to order mango sticky rice for dessert, but were told it was no longer available. A few minutes later, two groups of foreigners walked in AFTER us, placed their orders, and got served mango sticky rice, not just one, but FOUR SERVINGS IN TOTAL. One a t the table beside us and three more at another table. We were there first, and our orders were clearly taken before they even arrived. I even clearly heard them mention mango sticky rice in their orders, and I was trying to hear if the staff said it was unavailable. I was able to confirm it after seeing the four mango sticky rice carried by the staff. So yeah, it felt like they were giving priority to foreigners which was really frustrating. The staff could’ve at least double-checked before telling us it wasn’t available. Overall, NOT THE BEST EXPERIENCE (It made us feel like second-class customers of our own country).Might be better if you’re a foreigner. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
