Choi Garden has one of the best authentic Chinese food in the Metro. Visited last March 8, 2025 for dinner. We were a party of 5 and we got a total of 5 main dishes, 2 dimsums, and a dessert (not in photo) We were very full and had take out.
Choi Garden food is yummy, but had a couple comments for the food served to us during this specific visit.
🥢Cold Cuts Platter - A taste of different roast meats. Lechon Macau was crunchy, Soy Chicken was soft, but the Cha Siu Asado was tough (seems to be not as fresh anymore)
🥢Brocolli Shrimp - This dish could have been perfect if it wasn’t too salty. The brocolli was so green and well cooked, the shrimps were huge and crunchy! The saltiness however was borderline unbearable.
🥢Sweet and Sour Pork - I have always loved Choi Garden’s SSP because it is super crunchy! But for today, it was soggy 😭 Tastes good, but the crunch factor makes or breaks the whole dish in my opinion
🥢Hakaw - Tastewise, it is perfect. Decent shrimp filling, the wrapper was also nice tasting, but it is a bit too soft / too thin(?) that it keeps tearing when I pick it up. I was not able to get a single Hakaw whole (using my chopsticks) and I ate 5😬
🥢Siomai - I liked the hint of white pepper. It had a good mix of meat and shrimp. One of the fave this meal.
🥢Tofu - It was good tasting. Personally didn’t eat because I don’t like tofu, but my dad who loves tofu just found this dish average
🥢Yang Chow Fried Rice - It was really good. Loved it!
🥢Mango Sago (not in photo) - 👍🏻 We asked the syrup to be separated, so I had mine very slightly sour, which was good for me! We all got to customize the sweetness of the Mango Sago...
Read moreHonestly, I would have given this a 3 star just because of the slow service. Every time we go here, it's always packed. Even when you have a reservation, we ended up waiting for probably an hour or so due to lack of tables. We usually sit at a big round table, but this time we had separate tables due to the crowd that night. Getting a parking space is also very difficult in this area. (Not saying, there's only a few. There is a LOT) I recommend you going in early or just getting a cab going to the area since it's usually has no more spaces anymore.
I understand that the slow service is due to the renovation of making it a bigger place, thus more customers... but I honestly liked it better before where everyone was served efficiently... When we got to our table, it took a while for them to give us a menu, or even serve us. The staff was nice though, and I could see how they're trying their best. I just didn't like the fact that they're rushing to put all the food on the table even though at times there's not even enough space. The way the food was served? A little messy (just a little).
So all in all... The place really needs more staff and be more organized. The positive side is, the food is undoubtedly delicious! I understand why there's a lot of people who eat here. Just a little more improvement and it would be perfect!
(P.S. If you're looking for a quiet place to eat, I'm not sure if this would be the right location. It gets really noisy.)
Update: The delivery service is alright but the lady I talked doesn't seem that nice...
Read moreAs a people from Guangzhou for me this restaurant is good. First the manager is from China who speaks fluently Cantonese and Mandarin is easy to communicate.
The restaurant locates in Greenhills area if u come from the north it’s easy just turn right into annapolas from Edsa if u r from south just turn left and fly over to ortigas Ave then go inside greenhills. The place is quiet small actually if u want bigger space u can go to the other branch gloria maris which is also the same owner and just 200 meters away. The parking space not too much u need to go early to have one. And the tables inside around 10 tables and there is a 2nd floor I guess also 10 tables and there are 2-3 rooms per floor. U have to make reservation before u go it’s difficult to walk in normally they r fully booked.
It takes around 30-50 mins to serve the food Kasi they just cooked it when u ordered. The food is good the chef is a Chinese from Guangdong where the Cantonese food was made. We order a steam lapu lapu which tastes good very fresh and the soy source just good to not cover the freshness of the fish. We also ordered the mantis shrimp which cooked by salt and pepper the taste is really good the meat already absorbs the taste which reminds me the shrimp I ate long time ago in Yangjiang beach. We also ordered the roasted duck actually in my city Guangzhou normally we cooked roasted goose but maybe the goose is too fat the duck less fat so the Hongkong style normally is duck and also the duck is cheaper than the goose.
Totally 5 out of 5 the taste is...
