I guess you could say that we are regulars of Gloria Maris. Have been going here for at least 2 decades... they've made a few changes during the pandemic specifically the hotpot room which now kinda looks like a nightclub with bright lights.
Last night we arrived at 6:45pm and the room was half full. It's always good to make a reservation specially if you plan on having hotpot... they only hold the table till 6:45 pm.
If you haven't had hotpot, the 1st thing you do is fix your sauce and Gloria Maris isn't stingy with theirs. They replenish as you request... I usually put a spoon of everything into my sauce bowl. They used to give Cilantro (wansuy) however they now charge for it. I think it's worth it.
Since this is a review, I must include the bad along with the good.... The regular staff are awesome but since it was a holiday, they had on-call waiters too who were stressed out since they weren't really familiar with the menu items. Also it took them 30 minutes to serve our food which normally takes faster on regular nights.
As usual... the radish cake was my favorite. Total bill was Php14,000 for a group of 10. Usually it's 900-1000 per person but because we ordered dimsum on top of the other things our bill was more than usual.
Tip: They regularly have 50% off if you use a certain kind of credit card but because it was a holiday this offer wasn't available. So next time you go, ask if they...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Gloria Maris Shark's Fin Restaurant in Greenhills for a celebration of a centenarian birthday, and I must say the food was truly exceptional. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor and they definitely cook what you expect from great Chinese food. From appetizers to desserts, everything was delicious and left a lasting impression. Some dishes like the salted egg crab could have been improved though.
However, I did notice that the banquet hall area has seen better days. It seems to have deteriorated a bit, which was a bit disappointing. The decorations and overall maintenance of this space could definitely use some attention and refurbishment to bring it back to its former glory. This is especially important for those who might be considering the venue for special events or gatherings.
Despite the condition of the banquet hall, the quality of the food more than made up for it. The fantastic flavors and presentation of the dishes are the main reasons I would still recommend this place to others. It’s clear that the culinary team knows what they’re doing, and they deliver an outstanding dining experience. If the venue could match the quality of the food, it would be absolutely perfect. I look forward to seeing improvements in the future and enjoying another...
Read moreThis restaurant venue is massive and seems to have several sections to it: A very large general dining area, another rather grand banquet dining area with round lazy susan tables, and private functions rooms upstairs.
There was 5 of us dining in the banquet room. We had a roast duck which was prepared into several dishes. My goodness it was good. The steamed fish, roasted quail, long life noodles and every other dish we had were fantastic. I ate too much. I tried their 'four seasons' juice which was divinely refreshing. We finished off with a cold mango soup (?). I can't remember what it was called but it was tasty and refreshing.
They run a tight ship here. The staff are observant, hardworking and quick-acting. Food arrives promptly and they make room on the table promptly and efficiently without lingering or getting in anyone's way.
I very much enjoyed my dining experience here and would definitely recommend it to others for large gatherings. Just book ahead to ensure you have a table adequate to cater to your group size.
NB: I am allergic to seafood and ate safely here. It could very well have been because the host was communicating this to the waitstaff but I never had a problem which is always...
