I had heard good things about Nakabalo and decided to treat myself to dinner here while in Siquijor. The setting looked nice, and the prices were reasonable, but overall, my experience was fairly average. I was expecting a bit more.
The service was friendly but not as attentive as I would have expected for a place like this, especially since the restaurant wasn’t busy when I visited. One frustration was that I initially wanted to order the baked pork belly, but it was unavailable. It would have been helpful if the staff had mentioned this upfront instead of me only finding out after placing my order. I ended up going with the lasagne, which was good, and the portion size was decent.
I also ordered a glass of white wine, but it wasn’t chilled properly. When I asked if they had a colder bottle, I was told that was the temperature it came at, which wasn’t ideal in the humid air. It warmed up even quicker, so for my second drink, I opted for a Mai Tai instead. Unfortunately, it was just an average cocktail, nothing special.
The atmosphere was okay but quite basic. There was also an unpleasant experience with another diner coughing loudly without covering her mouth, which made me eager to leave, not the restaurant’s fault, but it didn’t help the overall experience.
In summary, the lasagne was good, and the pricing was fair, but the service could have been better, the drinks needed improvement, and the overall experience was just average. I wouldn’t say it was bad, but it didn’t live up to...
Read moreThis place is all about the sunset — absolutely breathtaking. Perched on a hillside with an infinity pool, it’s one of the most picturesque sunset spots I’ve ever been to. The pool isn’t huge, but during golden hour, the water becomes a perfect mirror for the sky. It’s like watching a live painting unfold in front of you — totally surreal.
We came here after a dive and just chilled out, waiting for the sun to go down. The whole ocean seemed to glow red. It was magical.
The pool entrance is ₱1000, but it includes a ₱600 food and drink voucher, so if you plan to eat here, it’s well worth it. The vibe is super laid-back. There are two Labradors wandering around — one of them is named Jamie, which made me smile because it’s my name too!
There’s a lot of greenery, so bugs are around — ask the staff for mosquito spray; they have some and it helps a lot.
As for the food, the portions are generous and prices are fair. We had the steak (a bit salty, but juicy) and some giant cheese sticks — both quite filling. Drinks were decent too.
This place is less about gourmet dining and more about the whole experience: the view, the breeze, the dogs, and that stunning sunset.
Would definitely recommend for the sunset and the...

I enjoyed a glass of wine alongside their fresh and tangy kinilaw, which paired perfectly with the stunning sunset. The chicken cordon bleu was a satisfying dish, crispy on the outside and rich with flavor inside.
