Update: 15 Mar 24 - They have improved the Grilled Cheese Sandiwch. Now served with tomato soup and they don't use sourdough bread anymore. Easier to chew! There's a One World Deli near my office but I am intimidated by the place because of their price point. Until tonight, while looking out for a place to have dinner, we finally decided to try this One World Deli in San Juan.
It is located inside The Corner House, a newly built neighbirhood mall in San Juan. I think this the same location of Cafe Ysabel before it relocated.
One World Deli is found at the basement. It has its own drop off point. You will be greeted with a supermarket feel but with more dining tables. The guard at the entrance was friendly. The dining area was full. While there was no one to assist us, we managed to go around and found a spot by the tipples section.
While seated, we were looking around until one of the staff handed us the menu. There were lots to choose from. We ended up choosing a salad, a starter and a sandwich. 😅
Caesar Salad (Php650) the house-made dressing was so good! I like that they did not mix so much dressing but serve a separate on the side. The greens were fresh, topped with a generous amount of parmesan cheese. It has no bacon but you have the option to add chicken, shrimp or steak.
Sausage Sampler (Php650) surprisingly good! It had 3 kinds of sausage- breakfast, frankfurt and jalapeño. All taste good but the jalapeño left a dry mouthfeel after a few bites. The mashed potato on the side was so goooood! Trust me, I am mashed potato lover! 🤭
Grilled Cheese Sandwich (Php420) They used premium cheeses. The flavors of orange cheddar and Colby cheese blended well, but they could have added more of these as the sourdough bread is quite thick. Served with potato chips on the side.
Moritz Premium Lager was also good! (Php160)
The service was good! The staff were friendly, attentive and prompt, given that they were serving the dinner rush. Great job to Uno, Rose and Mac. The place has a busy vibe though, so much is going on but that's the fun it.
Plenty of parking spaces here. It's free but the ticket needs to be validated. It is wheelchair-accessible.
Overall, it was a delightful experience! Would come back for more.
Need I say we were given free cocktails...
Read moreTo say that my dining experience which was in a way, a bonding time with my brother to this restaurant yesterday evening is hellish is no doubt an understatement. I am still clueless as to why did De La Salle Alumni Association choose One World Deli San Juan branch to be its partner when in fact, the restaurant printer for the blue tier loyalty card isn't working. Furthermore, they charge food dishes which are absurdly high, giving you the sorry and uncomfortable feeling that you have been a victim of a highway robbery. Just thinking how they could put an utterly and ridicululously unreasonable mark up on a 700 peso-priced miniscule slice of a salmon fish fillet touches a raw nerve on me to my absolute disgust and malcontent. Equally worse, they also charge for parking fees or to better and correctly put it, overcharge. They don't have parking attendants to guide you, or if they do, they aren't helpful by any means. The driveways and the slopes inside the parking area appear to be narrow and cramped and, the texts on the sign board directing and pointing where the parking area is, aren't big enough to be seen and read while traversing on the C.M.Recto street. To make it worse, the said sign board is placed quite much within the side of the facade of the restaurant building instead of it to be erected right beside the street. You have to wait 40 minutes or so or worse close to an hour for them to prepare and serve you a quite simple salmon dish which doesn't even come with rice. And you need to wait 30 minutes or so for them to prepare and issue your bill. In summary, this restaurant has wasted our time and has...
Read moreI absolutely love One World Deli. It’s a haven for food lovers with a vast selection of comfort foods that I truly enjoy, ranging from pasta and steaks to oysters and coffee. It’s a one-stop shop for high-quality food, and the variety is impressive.
I particularly recommend their seafood chowder, Salisbury steak, and gambas—all of which are excellent. The flavors are rich, and the quality is consistently top-notch. For those who enjoy Japanese cuisine, they also have an amazing selection of sashimi, maki, and seafood. One unique feature is that you can choose fresh ingredients from their refrigerators, and the chefs will cook them to your preference. It’s a wonderful, interactive dining experience that sets One World Deli apart.
The only downside is that their prices are a bit higher compared to competitors. For instance, a high-quality US Angus ribeye costs ₱2,300 at One World Deli, whereas nearby Tender Bob’s offers a similar ribeye for ₱1,500. In my opinion, both steaks are of equal quality, so the price difference can be a concern.
Their oysters are absolutely amazing—some of the best I’ve had. The freshness and taste are exceptional, but I have to say, the price per piece is a bit steep, even for me. It’s a treat, but one that might make you think twice before ordering too many.
However, if you’re looking for a place that combines convenience, quality, and a diverse range of culinary options, One World Deli is well worth the visit. Despite the higher prices, the experience and food make it a memorable dining...
