Ocean Sky Chan Monastery 海天禪寺 — Local services in San Juan

Ocean Sky Chan Monastery offers free Zen meditation classes to the public, and generously provides free vegetarian meals to students attending classes. The Zen classes teach meditation techniques to help students learn more about the nature of the True Mind. Beginners' classes are open to everyone, without per-requisites. Intermediate and Advanced Meditation classes, Sutra Studies, and Mandarin language classes are also available.

The term usually lasts for 12 weeks, meeting once a week (two schedules are available: weeknight, or weekend. I attended the former, but more people seem to prefer the weekend classes.

The temple also conducts regular Buddhist ceremonies and services, The classes and ceremonies are offered in English, and Chinese (mandarin) conducted by resident Dharma Masters from Taiwan.

Ocean Sky Chan Monastery is the local branch of Chung Tai from Taiwan, and is one of their many foreign branches outside Taiwan.

They also offer Zen meditation classes for kids, in a program they call as Bodhi Stars.
