March 23, 2025 – A Disappointing Experience at Starbucks Santo Tomas
Before heading to Cavite for a birthday party, my family decided to stop by Starbucks in Santo Tomas. As we were about to enter, we noticed a Grab driver standing outside, drenched in sweat. It was scorching hot, and we arrived around 12:35 PM—I even have the receipt to prove it.
I approached the driver and told him, “Kuya, you can go inside, it’s too hot out here.” But he responded, “No ma’am, we’re not allowed inside.”
Confused, I asked the security guard if this was true, and he simply confirmed it without explanation. When I got to the cashier, I asked again why delivery drivers weren’t allowed inside, and she said it was Starbucks’ policy. I couldn’t believe it—there were no customers inside, yet they couldn’t even allow him in for a few minutes to cool off.
After placing my order, I waited by the side, and a manager eventually approached me, saying, “Hi ma’am, I heard you had concerns.”
I explained my frustration, acknowledging that this might not be the conversation she expected on a Sunday, but I couldn’t ignore how unfair this was. She told me, “Ma’am, they’re actually allowed inside, but we try to limit the number of people when it’s busy.”
I gestured around the empty café and said, “Look, there’s literally no one here.”
I then pointed out that both the security guard and cashier explicitly told me that delivery drivers were not allowed inside. She kept apologizing, but I told her, “You don’t owe me an apology. You owe that man an apology.”
These drivers help businesses like Starbucks thrive—they deserve at least a little compassion. Instead of making them wait outside in extreme heat, why not let them step in for a moment?
She continued to apologize as she handed me my drink. I reassured her, “Don’t worry, I’m not here to make a scene on social media, but I will give honest feedback.”
I rarely complain, but this situation really struck me. At the very least, businesses should show some basic decency. Starbucks Santo Tomas, you failed...

I was assisted from refund of remaining card balance to transfer of 100 and up balance on old cards to new cards. I was also attended properly on my food purchases. They missed to provide 1 straw as I had 3 drinks to go. No big deal because my family had the meals at home and we have reusable straws. Thank you, Starbucks Lifestyle strip, Sto...
