Before visiting Tagaytay, my husband and I checked out some must visit places, and The Mushroomburger was one from the list. We've walked from the Sky Ranch, thinking of burning some calories on our way to refueling more. I honestly don't know what to expect because there were only few pictures posted about the place.
When we saw the M signage from afar, we sped up..đ btw, Mcdo was just round the corner but you need to go beyond to see another "M" for the Mushroom..We entered from the parking lot entrance and was welcomed by busy patrons. Looking around, the walls painted with yellow, dark brown couches and black seats round up the tables--which gives you the vibe of an old diner except that the place isn't dressed with white and red.
The lady in the counter was transactional, no greeting and gets to your order without pause..well, probably because of the long line. Not that she's disrespectful but I was expecting to have a warm welcome because of the cozy vibe of their store. Anyhow, I've asked her for their best sellers but unfortunately, I just got a lazy answer, so I didn't take time to browse more as we felt we are rushed into ordering. I ordered what I just read in front of me.
I literally forgot my order as this review is past few weeks now, sorry. So I just based this on the picture I took--Royal and King with an upgraded fries--their signature mushroom fries with some smoothie coconut for my hubby and cucumber for me.
Okay, let's be honest, once cu service is given right, you feel right, thus, food feels right. But for me, I felt all the exhaustion right after I took my seat--before the excitement dies, I have to pump it up and so I immediately dig in on my mushroom fries. It was okay, the outer was crunchy, but I have to take in 3 pcs to finally taste the inside of the fries..it was thinly sliced oh too greasyđ. I wanted to add more pepper and salt to add more flavor. Sadly, I didn't finish my burger, it was bland while my husband loved his. It must have been that my excitement to eat their product died down the moment my order was taken. But, I really wanted to go back and give it another try, I just hope, I could give a better review on their product because this type of food, I believe should have more chance in the market. Besides, people nowadays prefer healthier foods. So, i guess for now, after the ECQ, I shall return...

Read morePopular local fastfood based on their mushroom produce. 4 stars go to use of local produce and the use of a not so locally popular food, although it is starting to gain traction especially because mushroom farming is being taught in a lot of places nationwide. Part of the high rating also goes to being creative on using mushrooms like their mushroom gulaman, which is however now out of their menu. But i would like to mention that the taste is not that good. Theres this idea that its a healthier fastfood alternative. That im not quite sure of. It will depend on how it was cooked, the ingredients they used and mixed with it... if i could suggest something, it would be to get a good chef to redo the flavors and be mindful of the ingredients and the cooking process. Something they can add as a come on to their customers. If im going to recommend a single dish from their menu, it will be the mushroom sandwich. Why? Because that sandwich clearly shows the mushroom without any extenders and gives you the closest experience of a mushroom snack/sandwich, which for me is their true...
