I was craving for fish and chips, but the restaurant we wanted to visit was closed. We've been meaning to visit here anyway, so...
We ordered the Bundle 2 - 2 rice bowls, 1 sushi, 1 side, and 2 glasses of iced tea
KATSUDON It tasted good, different from any katsudon we've ever tried. It wasn't a big bowl, but the serving was ample and satisfying. I just wished the katsu was a bit thicker.
POKE BOWL Wasn't expecting much since the only poke bowl I've tasted was a local one, and it was, to say the least, disappointing. But this one did not let us down. There was a generous amount of tuna and salmon chunks, seaweeds, fermented radish, mangoes, and edamame. It was well-seasoned, and there was never a dull moment. Loved every bite! You can taste the freshness, the sauce, and the play of the different textures in the bowl was such a wonderful experience.
The bundle came with a side of sunomono salad. It's basically cucumber salad with wakame and kani. It's a great palette cleanser!
ZUSHI ME SALAD It's a kani salad with their own twist. Finally, a kani salad that isn't bland af. Aside from the usual ingredients, they included raw salmon bits. Nothing too special, but it was nice.
TEMPURA We ordered 3pcs tempura, but they gave us 4! Even though the prawn itself was meh, the batter was quite amusing because there's a hint of sweetness to it - kind of like pancake-ish buttery sweet.
CHICKEN KARAAGE Sooo tender. And the portion was quite big. The only thing I didn't like was the sauce. It tasted like sarciado or something. Roasted sesame dip would've been better at the very least.
SALMON LOBSTER ROLLS I was so excited to try this. I've never had lobster before, so I figured this was my chance. The roll itself was good. Well-seasoned rice, ample amount of stuffing. The lobster tempura on top was a bit lackluster, but I wasn't expecting that much. It didn't ruin the dish anyway.
All in all, good food, great service. Will add them to my go-to list when I crave decent Japanese food.
Payment modes are via cash and GCash, they're open...
Read moreIn and of itself, the food are delicious and reasonably priced but taste not as authentic Japanese as can be. The menu was overwhelming with options but several items we not available, even some which the server thought was available. The rice meals were the best value. The tonkotsu ramen was okay but I've had tastier Japanese ramen at the same price point. The sashimi platter was on the pricey end since there were more crabsticks than raw salmon and tuna, I couldn't tell too if the mackarel was cooked or marinated in salt/vinegar as should be since it was bland. The takoyaki tastes fine but was not served piping hot and was a bit on the dry side.
As a cozy hangout at pet-friendly resto, this place deserves a thumbs up, not lacking in ambiance both of the Japanese izakaya and the spectacular sight overlooking the majestic taal lake. If you want the energy of an izakaya, go towards the evening but if you want cozy, relaxed, and quite private private dining, go before lunch time -- you might even have the entire place to yourself to snap your next Japanese-inspired photos.
The staff were courteous and attentive but don't expect to hear back immediately if inquiring via their official FB page.
Would I come back to dine again? YES!!! I'd even bring friends along next time as long as they are not a food...
Read moreFirst time at Zushi Me and it won’t be the last!
We visited on a weekday and the place looked a bit different from the TikTok post I saw from a couple of years ago. seemed older, but it actually added some charm and character to the space.
Since it was my first visit, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the food. But the moment I saw the chef (who looked like a legit Japanese chef!) walk by, I had a good feeling. 😄 True enough, the ramen arrived and instantly blew us away. The broth was rich and flavorful without being too salty, with a subtle peanuty note that made it extra comforting. My daughter and I slurped it down before it even had a chance to cool—definitely our new favorite ramen! 🍜
We also ordered sushi and takoyaki, and both were delicious as well.
There was only one “Ate” serving that day plus the chef, but service was still smooth and friendly.
Looking forward to coming back and trying the rest...
