Went to Bohol and made a quick dinner stop at Garden Café in Tagbilaran—but wow, it turned into something special. The food was great, and the dragon fruit juice? Easily the best I’ve ever had. But what made it unforgettable was the staff—most of them are deaf, and the café exists to give them meaningful work and a welcoming space to thrive.

The vibe was warm, and they even included a basic sign language guide in the menu so you can communicate with the servers. But for me, it was extra personal. I grew up learning sign because my aunt, who lives with us, is deaf—so signing is second nature to me.

When I signed with our server and saw her light up, it instantly made my day. Moments like that remind me how beautiful inclusion is when people are seen, respected, and embraced. It wasn’t just a meal—it was a reminder of the kind of world we should all be creating.

Big love to this café for serving food with heart and purpose. What a...

From decor to menu items, this is a traditional small town cafe. The menu selection covers several different types of food: Mexican, Filipino, American, etc. I specifically wanted to find a place that serves sandwiches. Garden Cafe does this..

The staff was friendly and quick to assist.

The price is fair. Compared to other restaurants in the area that serve similar dishes i would say the price at Garden Cafe is lower than the rest, but you get what you pay for.

Some of the food was not what I expected. My club sandwich had a ground beef patty and a fried egg on it (not a traditional club sandwich).

The beef on the fajitas was difficult to chew.

We ordered a lot of food. Not everything we ordered was very good but we did enjoy most of our meal.

I would definitely eat at the Garden Cafe again, but I don't think I would ever recommend it...

We were at the cafe for dinner we came there super hungry after many errands that we had during the day we wanted atleast to eat outside before we go home . We came in the cafe, very nice inside, clean . We ordered a bbq chicken for me coz I was been craving so bad with bbq and ribs for my husband and had a squid head for appetizers and shakes . We gave instructions that we want the appetizers to serve first, but it came out with the ribs and drinks we started to eat and later on that we almost finished the appetizers and My husband is almost finished the food and My other order havent come out so we asked if how long it Will be and she said we didnt ordered it . I was pissed and disappointed . The one who took the order is Not deaf or something . Im very very...

Serving was enough for 3-5 people per dish since we were 3 (2 adult+ 1 child) and we couldn't even finish our meal. I guess they designed it based on American serving size. It was the first time that I ate Binakol with overflowing Buko (coconut) strips. Each food serving was delectably made and they made sure everything was delicious. We went there for ambiance and it sure did not fail us. Roaming around the restaurant was a pleasure for our eyes, it has a American cowboy theme which reflects the ancestry of the owner. It was moving to know that they're resto staff were physically challenged (deaf) & interesting to know how to do sign language. Though for people who doesn't want to do it, the staff just lets you write down your orders.
