Mama Lou's Italian Kitchen - Venice Grand Canal Mall — Restaurant in Taguig

Food was great, no doubt. Already tried their pizzas before but this time we opted to have some salad, pasta and an entree. The Arugula Salad is refreshing, it’s a good combination of grapes, apples, cheese and nuts. The Ravioli Spinach is an all time favorite, love the creamy sauce! And the entree, Pollo Al Burro, first time to try and it didn’t disappoint - chicken was perfectly cooked - meat is moist and the skin is still crispy. Cleared our plates in no time!

However, service was so-so. Attentive, yes but had to catch the servers’ attention to ask for the menu and for some service water. They didn’t serve us the free bread but it was noted in our receipt (and other tables were given theirs - we thought we weren’t entitled to have one based on our order). Asked for the bill which was given out promptly, but took a while for them to give our change and receipt - had to follow it up when we noticed that they are not processing our payment.

Atmosphere is relatively OK, place is clean but the aircon is leaking and had created a water puddle on the floor which could be a slip hazard.

Price is OK, almost 500php / dish, no...

The food was great, especially the ribeye steak even if it sits on your plate for a while it is still delicious and tender. The pizzas and pastas were also good. Some of the dishes on the menu are not available during our visit, mostly the gelato and the cakes and one of the steak and some of the pasta.

They offered us their membership card that gave us 15% discount in our total bill which is a big help. Some of our orders were late because the waiter wasn’t attentive on getting our orders. We have to reorder again that costs us another 20minutes waiting time. Our table was also missing a pair of utensil and a plate which I had to repeatedly tried to follow up personally near their workstation three times on the manager and the waiter before it was finally noticed. They don’t react when you push the button of the “call” device that was placed on the table thus you need to really get their attention. We asks some of the staff to take photo but refused instead especially the guy with a tie. There are not much customer at that time.

It was my first time dining at this restaurant with my office mates. The food was average for a typical Italian restaurant, and while the servers were courteous and attentive, nothing really stood out—except for the meat lasagna. The lasagna had a perfect balance of cheese, sauce, and meat that didn’t overpower the palate. However, the pizzas, while thin as expected, didn’t meet my expectations. We ordered the 3 types of pizzas and all of them are about the average in taste and quality… Over all the experience was just okay—not particularly memorable or worth a repeat visit. I wouldn’t recommend this place for dinner dates either as the portion sizes are meant for sharing… On a positive note, if you have the Mama Lou’s discount card, you can get off a certain discount of your total bill. Our original bill was ₱7200, but with the discount applied, it came down to ₱6,700. Luckily we have the discount or else, I have given this place a lower score…
