If you're lookin' for a place in Vigan City that offers a perfect blend of traditional Filipino and Chinese cuisine, Angkong Restaurant is a must-visit. Nestled in the heart of the city, it exudes a cozy and welcoming ambiance that makes you feel right at home.
Food: The menu is diverse, offering everything from 4 way Peking Duck to Filipino staples like bagnet and sinigang. The highlight for me was their Peking Duck, packed with fresh vegetables, perfectly cooked soup, and a savory sauce that was simply divine for the pita-like Peking duck wraps. Their yang chow rice and sweet and sour pork were equally impressive.
Service: The staff was courteous and attentive, making sure our glasses were always filled and that our food arrived promptly. They were also very knowledgeable about the menu, offering excellent recommendations based on our preferences.
Ambiance: Angkong strikes a balance between modern comfort and traditional charm. The interiors are clean, with subtle Chinese-inspired decor that complements the restaurant's theme. It's a great spot for family gatherings or casual lunches with friends.
Price: The prices are reasonable, considering the generous portions and quality of the food. It’s a great value for money, especially for those looking to indulge in a flavorful meal without breaking the bank.
Overall: Angkong Restaurant is a gem in Vigan City. Whether you're a local or a tourist exploring the area, this place offers a culinary experience worth savoring. Highly recommended for those who appreciate hearty meals and great service. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreDecided to go there for Mother's Day. They had a menu with specific items handpicked for that day only. The place was packed when we got there at 1 PM with no reservations. We had to wait for a good while to be seated in their ballroom (5th floor) which they transformed into their restaurant overflow. We had one of their specials good for a party of 4 or 5. The food was great. The spare ribs in A1 sauce was my favorite. I am not one to lather a slab of meat with A1 but this was definitely a nice surprise. The shrimp in black pepper sauce as well as their sweet and sour fish fillet were close runners-up. Drinks such as the black jelly and lychee shouldn't be passed. I had a vanilla ice cream shake which is practically a vanilla milkshake to go. We had the fried rice and it was perfect. The staff were nice, accomodating and helpful. One even recommended against ordering another plate of fried rice as that will take a lot longer. She instead recommended steamed rice since that can be plated immediately. She was right. The place is clean and stylish. Only drawback is the location of their restrooms. You will need to step out of the building and cross their driveway to access that facility. The place is wheelchair-friendly and has an elevator. Parking spaces in front and back of their...
Read moreI have served bad services in the past, but nothing as shocking as this experience that I encountered in this restaurant. The employees employed here are blatantly lacking in any professionalism, or decency towards their visitors. Once, a server literally dived a whole heap of straws on our table, left alone, without even giving us any words, as though we were an annoyance. It was a token of disrespect, and it was totally unnecessary.
When we requested to talk to the manager regarding the same, we were informed that they are “not around”. Seriously? When a manager refuses to emerge and correct an obvious situation with the behavior of their employees, then it becomes known what type of a place this is. No excuse, no compensation, just total neglect.
The fact that customer service is not a priority, it goes without saying, with this attitude beginning at the top. When a manager is too lazy to confront an issue, who can blame the staff acts like it is doing guests a favor by merely doing its jobs.
Such restaurants cannot be afforded your time or money. You could find a lot of other places with more food and even the staff treat customers with a basic level of decency. Save yourself and leave this...
