I want to start reviews adequate for the common man/woman. My reviews will always focus on the following going forward:
Atmosphere, Service, Price, Food, Overall
These 5 categories should allow you to form an honest opinion and make an educated decision.
Atmosphere: Kapitan Cook has the feel of an old style ship. Very homely feel, if you really pay attention you can see the detail of such in the ceilings, walls and shelves. Also a beautiful fireplace and piano. All of this makes the ambience of what this type of restaurant should feel like. After all the name is Kapitan Cook. No loud music and adequate noise levels. Ample of space. Making the atmosphere a solid 4.
Service: No complaints about the service. The menu comes both in English and Polish and therefore no need to ask for any seperate Menus. The staff were friendly and helpful and kept a smile on their face. A rather important skill. No issue and overall a solid 4.
Price: Approximately 50zl for the meal and 10zl for a drink. No complaints here. Definitely a very reasonable price and for its location it is NOT overpriced.
Food: I had a grilled pork steak with chips and a mixed salad. The pork was very well seasoned and very tender. The chips appeared double fried giving it a crisp flavour and texture whilst remaining tender. This came with a white ranch type sauce which was small for the portion of chips/meat, although very tasty. The salad was lovely and very light. Greatly paired with a salad dressing.
Overall: This restaurant is a solid 4. The food is good and priced reasonably without complaints. There is a fantastic atmosphere too which fits with the theme...
Read moreWe ate at this restaurant because it had been recommended to us. Started with the Rosół (reasonably tasty, but it wasn't hot enough), and the Captains spicy soup, which, again, wasn't bad ( very much like a variation on minestrone, but with seafood in it) , however it arrived with a large, whole, crustacean sitting in it. In order to remove the head and shell, therefore, you needed to pick it out of the soup - clearly a messy business and frankly, unnecessary. Next came the fish and chips. The best I can say is that the tartar sauce that came with it was tasty. I expected a chunky piece of cod. What I got was a thin, tasteless piece of fish, surrounded by a thick, heavy batter, that was 50 per cent of the weight of the dish. The chips I'm sure were oven chips, quickly reheated, and were equally tasteless. I shall not be returning to...
Read moreIt is an old restaurant with a nice maritime atmosphere. The traditional fishsoup is exquisite, all of the fishes and meat we tried were too. The cake for dessert is very tasty too. Only the ice cream with whip was normal (not bad but nothing very special). The waiters were very nice and kind. The price however is definetly a bit high compared to other locals near it, but the atmosphere is better too. Parking space is not easy but near it there are definetly many spaces, especially in the evening.
Overall a good...
