Trattoria Cichy Kącik — Restaurant in Krakow

A disappointment I am not happy to be writing negative comments, but I cannot pretend it was ok. We used to like and visit the place, but yesterday we were terribly disappointed, even more so as this evening was very special to me and my sons. Firstly, we could not get clear answers regarding the menu, it got worse when what we chose turned out 'probably unavailable' and one of my sons was asked to choose another dish, just in case, and till the last moment he was not informed which of the two dishes he would get. Moreover, when half of the order arrived and we still had to wait for the rest of the food we could not believe that the restaurant like this could forget such basic standards of serving all people simultaneously, or at least making sure if that would be acceptable to make half of us wait longer. Did I mention that even the drinks arrived after quite a long time, which usually does not happen often, it would have passed unnoticed if it had been the only inconvenience. On top of that, the food did not meet all our expectations, I mean not all of it was as we used to...

Very disappointing experience. I’ll start with food first. It was … bland. We ordered spaghetti bolognese and salmon raviolis. Pasta (or meat in it) needed more robust flavors, missed vegetables.. which are a base to make great red sauce. Pouring tomato sauce out of the can is not enough. Bread and olive oil were very good. Typically that stays on the table throughout entire meal, Italians have bread with their dinner. Our waiter snatched all plates as soon as bread basket was empty. We had to ask him to bring another round of bread and olive oil and he was very confused about our request. Waiter Tomasz was very transactional and cold. Barely interacted with us, felt very awkward... typically guest is asked about drink refill or a dessert. Not us. Reading other reviews critiquing the food, I see that owner response is defending their position … instead of acknowledging feedback and trying to learn from it. Warning! Not child friendly!! Our food had not arrived and there were plenty of seats empty inside free with reservation starting in over 1 hour when we would have been finished at least 30 mins before. When I explained my child had pneumonia a week before and we could not sit outside anymore, a pretentious waiter by the name of Nikolaos told us we were not welcome inside nor could we leave without paying for full for our food that had not even come. I'm writing whilst we are still standing outside in the cold waiting to leave. Nikolaos barked at me saying he will call the police unless we paid in full for the food which had not come. I offered to pay for drinks, but he insisted on the police. WORST HOSPITALITY EVER!!!! Don't bother going here...
