I can honestly say that this was THE worst dining experience of my 63 years. Very upsetting as we were there to celebrate a 92nd birthday. We waited 60 minutes for 1 pizza to arrive, it was only luke warm, and 90 minutes for the remaining pasta/sznitzel dishes to arrive. The lasagne was cold in the middle and inedible. We asked several staff for an update throughout his period and were largely ignored or given silly excused like 'lots of people arrived after you'. When we complained about the cold lasagne it was removed for 5 minutes then waitress returned with the comment ' it was hot when brought to the table in the kitchen's opinion' No other dish was offered. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and appears to have lots of waiting staff all equipped with headsets but they might as well be listening to the radio as the communication/ organisation/ management is VERY poor. There was no attempt to keep us informed of delay or to apologise. Staff were rude and dismissive on several occasions. We observed that several other tables were waiting inordinate amounts of time for food to arrive. At the end of the meal we had one guest who had no food other than bread and another who had partly eaten a cold pizza. On asking to see the manageress we were met with more rudeness and dismissal of the problem. We were offered a pathetic 5% discount. Needless to say that was not the end of the matter !! In conclusion the 'restaurant' is nice and has the potential to justify the inflated prices. However, currently the food is well below average and the service is...
Read more3 stars for today's lunch experience, unfortunately. Such a disappointment. The management have installed automatic fragrance dispensers throughout the restaurant, on both levels, to cover every single centimeter of the venue with an extremely intense perfume. It made it very difficult to concentrate on anything else throughout the meal. I came home and 3 hours later my clothes and hair still intensely smell of the perfume. Hard to believe.
We could have left but first of all it was a birthday lunch, so that wasn't appropriate, and secondly we have been there many times (which is why it was picked for the birthday lunch) because the restaurant has great food, including today, lovely service, and a great interior.
How unfurtunate the magagement made this poor decision (artificial fragrance dispensers are also bad for the health) and this way they are turning away many regular customers no doubt.
Normally during the week it's quite full for lunch. Today there was barely a handful of tables. Perhaps other clients also found the perfumed smell to be unbearable.
Hopefully the management will reconsider their decision to use these artificial fragrances (especially as there was never any need for them) and return it to the wonderful restaurant experience it has always...
Read moreVery limited menu for what is advertised as an Italian restaurant. If you like pizza then it’s ok but hardly any choice of pasta, risottos or meat based dishes.
We ordered mushroom soup which was watery and had no taste. It contained large pieces of different mushrooms but it was a pity that some of them had not been soaked long enough so they were hard, tough and very chewy.
We ordered spaghetti carbonara and veal escalope. Both were served cold, the carrots were old, cold, with the skin on and just looked dirty. Broccoli cold and the potatoes barely warm. The carbonara was equally cold. The floor manager decided to argue instead of apologising and offering to replace them.
When he eventually agreed we said we would both have the carbonara. Portion size came back smaller than before and was not hot but warmer than before.
The only reason this place is busy is because of where it is, next to the park housing the palace, consequently the local patrons come here because they are a bit snobbish.
I would rather eat at a Sphinx chain restaurant than here. BTW one of us visiting was a local Polish National, who concurred...
