The atmosphere feels as if you've been transported to Greece, combined with an elegant interior appearance! Truly a perfect blend between cozy elegant! You will be greeted by greek waiter and truly feel as if you are indeed in Greece.
The waiter was attentive and friendly, along with the general Manager; who was playing a prank on different tables by making it appear as if he's about to drop a coffee cup on you! Felt as if we were part of the restaurant family as we were included in some of their lively discussions!
The food was equally as delightful and tasty! We decided to have a light dinner since we had a ton of treats during our visit to the Christmas markets. We ordered the calamari dish along with their traditional Greco salad.
One of the biggest surprises came from our starter bread which included a paste of olives. The taste was amazing and had a combination of black olives, salt, pepper and oils. A great snack to have prior to your dish.
The salad was amazing, with a light sweet dressing, sliced oranges and fried feta cheese; which cut through the dishes sweetness! Please note the salad plating is on the bigger end just in case you're planning to eat this by yourself.
The calamari dish was perfectly fried with both baby squids and larger bits of squid bits. The lemon, tartar sauce were also extremely light and necessary in my opinion.
We paired the dishes with a white citrus white wine to counter the fried food. I recommend this approach as it made the whole dish that much better !
Finally we ended with the lava chocolate cake per the recommendation of our waiter. The chocolate cake was extremely moist and we'll balanced! I recommend this dessert to anyone who wants to see a perfectly...
Read moreGreek grandmothers would turn in their graves if they were told that el Greco is the epitome of Greek food in Warsaw.
Unfortunately, the food is a basic as they come. Please don’t be fooled by the ratings online as most of those reviews are by tourists with very low expectations. I’ve never seen such basic food presentation to start with at a pricey reputable restaurant it was garnished not even with salad but with one dried lettuce leave. I was hoping it would taste better than it looked but boy was I wrong. The lamb chops were tasteless not even salted. The fries were soggy and unappetizing. Oh and the portion was tiny. 80zloty for one dish and one expects to at least feel full.
I specifically asked for my meat to be medium it came in well done. No real chef grills meat to well done unless asked for. During our dinner, no one asked if we were happy with the food. Even as they picked up the dishes and brought the bill, not a single word about how we liked our food. Lastly I told the waiter that the food was bad and that I wasn’t quite satisfied. He told me he himself really likes the food and if I know any better restaurants in Warsaw I should tell him. That there proved to me that eventhe service personnel were inexperienced and new at the job. Instead of saying sorry and asking if there was anything they could do to help he was arguing that I was wrong. When a customer expresses how unsatisfied they are and how they didn’t like the food, you’re not supposed to contest them and say that you yourself like it. Your opinion shouldn’t matter. But no, apparently costumer feedback has no weight at el Greco. Which is why I urge you all to never go there and put your...
Read moreI was really looking forward to trying this restaurant after reading a few of the reviews and seeing the pictures.
Sadly our experience wasn't that good.
Firstly it's a lovely restaurant which you could easily walk past as the outside looks a bit shabby but the inside is nice.
They had a few different menus on the go which was a bit confusing, lunch menu, set menue and standard menu.
We went for the set menu as were after a quick meal. We waited a long time for our starters to arrive but when they arrived they were really nice we have meatballs and a baked feta.
Both cooked really well and the feta tasted great. Then it was another really long wait for our mains which was just chicken souvlaki (grilled chicken skewer). This was served with standard oven chips that you buy from any supermarket.
When the food finally arrived there was a black hair in my food, now normally I would have refused the dish but as we waited so long, and didn't want to be delayed further I removed it.
Food was nothing special and pretty small portion.
When my server collected the plate I pointed out the hair and she wasnt that concerned and simply said sorry.
Another long wait and our dessert s came which were really nice again.
Now the long serving time could be overlooked, the hair in the food could be overlooked, the small portion, the servers visibly complaining about lack of tips but all combined just made it bad experience hence the low rating.
As we were waiting the food being served elsewhere looked really nice so maybe skip the set menus.
Total was 200plz...
