the place is stunning, the waiters can communicate fluently in a myriad of languages, but the food despite being exceptionally good, the rations were scarce, which is a bit ironic taking into account the fact that they present their food as a ‘sharing experience’ and the price is a bit unjustifiable for that. A plate of 3 cheeses where there are just 4 small slices of each for 13€ (at least they were interesting and really good except for the goat one, which was undeewhelming), a 700g dry-aged ribeye isn’t enough for even 3 people and for 82€… But i digress, the presentation of the restaurant makes it seem like it’s some mid-high upper echelon cuisine, but they don’t tell you anything about the preparation of what you’re going to eat or how to properly pair it. TLDR: decently good food, but the subversion of expectations stemming from those ludicrously small portions makes it hard to justify the price, good service but not nuanced enough to justify the price. Good quality but not enough of it to...
Read moreMy favorite meal in Portugal! The food was excellent, the atmosphere was magical, and the staff was so kind! We stopped in one evening right before they opened and João was so nice and attentive, he very graciously fit us in even though they seemed to not have any reservations available that night. We left for a bit since they weren't open yet and grabbed a glass of wine nearby before returning for our 7pm reservation. We sat outside in the courtyard and it was lovely with music playing, it felt like a hidden gem tucked away right by the Roman Temple. João gave us an excellent wine recommendation that we loved and was incredibly attentive all night. We ended up sharing several small plates instead of getting a main dish, but everything tasted incredible and the presentation was perfect. We even ended with a dessert and Port that João recommended to us. It was exceptional from start to finish. Thank you so much to João and his team for our favorite night yet in Portugal! We loved our...
