O Caldeirão — Restaurant in Óbidos

An unexpected visit when the booked restaurant was closed due to a death. The food was amazing the best steaks we had had for a long time. We opted for the fillet instead of sirloin and were not disappointed it was well worth the few extra euros, cooked to perfection and no waste whatsoever. Served with a choice of chips rice boiled potato, salad or vegetables One of our party had lamb chops and again they were not a disappointment. Desserts are limited but we all found something we fancied and we all enjoyed our choice. Accompanied by wine and followed by coffee and complimentary ginga the whole meal was delicious. This restaurant was an unexpected pleasant surprise, we were there to visit the sanctuary just in front of it, but with the sanctuary closed and near lunchtime we've stopped there to enjoy a great meal. The waiter was nice and very polite and it was the best pork that I have ever tasted in my life so far, my call was grilled black pork mix, my wife's dish was an incredible steak with mushrooms and cream. These restaurant is almost 100 kilometers (62 miles) from home and for sure I'll be back there for another perfect...

Been here twice for lunch with my family... and loved it both times. Stroganov the first time, and Monkfish and Prawns in cream sauce the second time, delicious, but I have had dreams about the monkfish.
