O Atlântico — Restaurant in Albufeira

Decent food. Poor service.

We went for dinner. Right for the entrance they acted like they were doing us a favor, we asked for a table for two we had seen there were tables outside. They say they didn’t have tables and as we walked out they said we could sit outside without even looking at us. They never brought the menu, we knew we wanted chicken so we just ordered without it while the waitress acted annoyed when we asked what they had for drinks (since they didn’t bring the menu). We waited 1h for the food and two tables that ordered at the same time as us, finished their dinner 20m before we got our food. Once again the waitress acted annoyed when we asked if it would be long, she said she would check but never came back. We finally get the food and the chicken was really good. But there are plenty of options around, this was the only one without a line at the door, now...

The food here is what many would consider basic, but the Piri Piri Chicken and the Black Iberian Pork were very good and packed with flavor. The servers were friendly, helpful and seemed to be more authentic than many other places we ate in the Algarve. They offered a local palate cleanser (honey based shot of alcohol) that was very smooth and tasty. The passion fruit mousse was also delicious (not like a french cuisine mousse, but good...

Atlantico had a great selection of traditional portuguese dishes on their menu, which is great if you don't want to be stuck with the chicken piri-piri that is exclusive from the restaurants around (but you can also get that).

Update: On our latest visit we organised a group lunch for a group of 13 people and all was perfect. There was plenty of good food, and the staff was very helpful.

The brigadeiro was amazing!
