After looking at great reviews we went to O Vieira with high hopes but unfortunately the experience we had did not live up to its previous reviews. We ordered a range of meals some of which were edible and some which were not. The peri peri chicken was adequate at best, I would suggest to visitors to try many of the other establishments that offer peri peri chicken as the platter we had at O Vieira’s offered salty burnt chicken. Two of our party had the sirloin steak, this was bland and left and strange aftertaste. Also, one of our party ate 20 minutes after the rest of our group as their meal was forgotten/missed off the ticket. There were two mixed grills that were ok but nothing to celebrate. When we paid for our meal we did explain that we had a few issues to which the manager responded with “ok”. Personally if you’ve read to the end of this review I would give this establishment a Miss as there are plenty others to be explored and enjoyed, but if you do choose to eat here I hope you have a better experience...
Read moreWe came here and had fantastic service and amazing food! We started with the couvert, which was all delicious! They give a really good portion of very tasty bread, nice fresh cheese, and lots of tasty olives. The fish paste was a little too strong for our tastes. We all went for the piri piri chicken, chips, and tomato salad. Amazing food, every bit. The tomatoes were huge! And so fresh and flavourful. Highly recommend getting them as an extra to the main meal. The chips were good, but not the best in Guia. We asked for a spicy chicken and a not so spicy chicken, which they did it for us. All of it was really delicious. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable too. I asked a couple of questions about the food which they answered and gave a bit of extra info, which was great to see. All this for a fair price. Definitely recommend coming here, especially because you can get a pic with the chicken guy outside! How they are dressed in a fluffy chicken suit in the temperatures of Guia I...
Read moreI've been visiting "O Vieira" for well over 30 years - pretty much every time I visited my family in Guia. The food has been consistently good, plentiful and well-presented. It still is. So overall, "O Vieira" would deserve 5 stars - were it not for their nasty habit of bringing you and charging you for items you didn't order. It's OK to put the anchovy paste and the cheese on the table - but don't do it in a manner that it appears to be complimentary. No big deal for us, because we know it now, but even when we handed the items back to the waiter and told him we didn't want them, they still found their way onto the bill. O Vieira: You have such a good thing going. The food is great, the service is very attentive, so why spoil a perfect, pleasant experience with this underhanded custom? For a few extra Euros? We're willing to spend money there, but let us choose what we want to eat. Leave out these tricks so you can ensure that these sour notes don't discourage people from...
