Restaurante Algarve — Restaurant in Albufeira

We came here a couple of times and enjoyed ourselves but felt a couple of niggles let it down slightly. Items worth noting the restaurant was busy with times we came. We had couvert both times we came. Really loved bread, olives, and cheese. The fish paste was a little strong for our taste. We tried the piri piri chicken and also tried the prawns. The prawns were very large and tasted of the ocean. My wife loves prawns and said these were really good. The piri piri chicken on the first visit was delicious, a nice spicy flavour. The second time we went, we asked for 3 portions, 1 being less spicy and the other 2 being spicy. All of the chicken came with no spice at all, just loads of salt, and the chicken was a little tough. It was a real shame as it had been so good the first time. We did mention it to the staff who dismissed us, saying they put no spice as its too complicated having one of each, which is disappointing as that's not what they said when we ordered. The chips the second time were also not as good as the first time we went. The first time, they had a really lovely olive oil flavour with great colour to the chips. Like everyone else, we arrived in Guia looking for the world famous frango (chicken) piri piri. The big famous restaurants like Ramires had hordes of diners waiting outside for a table and we didn’t fancy joining the fray so we took a walk in the early evening sunshine and stumbled upon the family-run Restaurant Algarve. The owner was very accommodating and conjured up a table outside with the other diners, on the cobbled pavement under the trees. The service was good, no-nonsense and efficient and when the food arrived it was exactly what I’d been hoping for. The barbecued chicken was delicious and left your lips tingling though not too hot in spice. The flavour was smoky and peppery and the accompanying tomato and onion salad and hot crispy fries complimented perfectly. I don’t often opt for a desert but, inside the restaurant, I noticed the waiter cutting a dark looking home-made tart and he told me it was a local speciality made from figs. It was sublime. Dark, sticky and sweet with a dense texture, we were left scraping the plate with our forks to get the last little bit. My wife found Restaurante Algarve based on reviews/ratings and we decided to give them a try.

Ordered: Couvert (bread), olive’s, mixed salad, 1/2 chicken with garlic sauce and comes with french fries, T-bone steak comes with french fries and rice.

Everything was delicious!!! The bread and olives were delicious. My wife wanted to try the chicken piri-piri but wasn’t sure about the heat, so the server suggested a garlic sauce as an alternative; it did not disappoint. My T-bone steak was cooked with such a delicious flavor and was a perfect med-rare. Our mixed salad (medium) came dressed with the most flavorful olive oil.

This restaurant is frequented by locals and continued to fill up while we were here. We received excellent service, the food was amazing, the ambience was cozy and welcoming.

I don’t want to recommend Restaruante Algarve because they’ll get busy but we DEFINITELY recommended this place.

Pedidos: Couvert (pão), azeitonas, salada mista, 1/2 frango com molho de alho e acompanha com batata frita, T-bone steak acompanha batata frita e arroz.

Estava tudo delicioso!!! O pão e as azeitonas estavam deliciosos. A minha esposa queria experimentar o frango piri-piri, mas não tinha a certeza sobre o picante, por isso o empregado sugeriu um molho de alho como alternativa; não desiludiu. O meu bife T-bone foi cozinhado com um sabor tão delicioso e foi um med-raro perfeito. A nossa salada mista (média) veio temperada com o mais saboroso azeite.

Este restaurante é frequentado por locais e continuou a encher enquanto aqui estivemos. Recebemos um excelente atendimento, a comida era incrível, o ambiente era acolhedor e acolhedor. Obrigado por uma maravilhosa experiência gastronómica.

Não quero recomendar o Restaruante Algarve porque eles ficarão ocupados, mas DEFINITIVAMENTE...
