If you are in Albufeira, you owe it to yourself to go here at least once, if not every day of your stay! The cakes here are second to none. Coming from Scotland and our comparatively paltry selection, this place was like walking into something you'd only see in a movie. The cakes are the star of the show, as you might guess. I can highly recommend the Lemon Meringue Pie, a portion of which is comfortably big enough to be shared between two! The Pastel de Nata (Custard Tarts), especially with a sprinkle of cinnamon from the provided shakers, are also amazing. The drinks, both hot and cold, are fresh and served with a smile by the friendly staff. This place is always bustling, and it's open until late if you fancy a bedtime snack. You can dine in, take away or sit outside in the shaded area, though you might want to give the latter a miss if smokers bother you. Highly recommend this place - do yourself a favour and see, smell and taste it in person!

As others have commented, it’s an unusual ordering experience. I waved inside where I looked at the cabinets, then the person behind the counter told me to seat myself outside. A waiter appeared and presented me with a ticket. I was then asked to place my order without seeing a menu -so I opted for a mint milkshake and a lemon meringue tart. The mint milkshake was ok, nothing spectacular. The lemon meringue tart lacked any lemon flavour at all, and definitely no tartness that you would expect. At the end, another waiter gave me a new ticket and gestured that I go inside to pay at the cashiers desk. I then realised that I was being charged for another couple’s two coffees and cakes, who had already left. This seemed to cause a drama (not of my making) while it was rectified. Overall, underwhelmed.

A must stop in Albufeira. I love this place. The desserts are amazing and fresh. It can get really busy in the summer months especially in the morning and lunch time. They serve lunch plates as well. There is ample seating. Outside and inside. They have a nice balcony with a view of the water that I love. You can try to find parking in front of the bakery but like i said it gets really busy so finding parking is tough. I hope you get the chance to come here. I’ve gone around 6pm and it wasn’t as busy and a great experience, no waiting time at all. I’d say in the morning it can take around 20-30min to get your food. I believe it’s open until midnight.

Wow is all I can say but I will explain a little more. If eating in as we did. You sit at a table and order hot food and drinks or sandwichs with a waitress. Cakes you go to counter and they give you a slip with a number which you give to your waitress and they collect your cakes to bring to your table. They then give you a receipt which you take to the till at the door and pay on exit. Toasties and coffee are beautiful but the cakes are in another league. Never had such fresh tasty cakes.

Take a ticket and wait…wait some more…and wait a bit longer for your number to be called. Select your cake(s) and your given a slip of paper. Take a seat, then wait some more for a waiter. Order your beverages and non-cake items, hand over the paper ticket from the cake counter, then … WAIT. After all that waiting I personally didn’t find the cakes tasty, flavoursome or particularly fresh but it’s reasonably priced and if you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere this might do it.

Riviera was recommended to us by a Portuguese friend and did not disappoint. Huge counter of cakes, biscuits, pastries, and sandwiches to choose from when you walk in. Everything looks great so best of luck deciding what to get! The coconut cake was amazing. Looks very plain but it was moist and tasty (if you like coconut). Portions are generous and great value. There was a bit of a wait since it was busy but it was worth it. Staff were mostly friendly.
