Luna Miramar Club — Hotel in Albufeira

On arrival: Outside of the hotel, were current hotel guests singing happy birthday to their friend, nothing to do with us. We walked into reception, nobody was there, when Papu arrived he said “if you want to make noise like that stay somewhere else” after we had just got out of our taxi & walked into the hotel making no noise. At check in, we were given 1 key for a room for 3 people. This in itself is not great, but we were informed that when you go out, you leave your key at reception and then whoever comes back can have the key. One of our group feeling unwell left our evening out to come back to the room, Papu refused to give them they key, telling them that this is not allowed and that this has never been the rule (after him and another member of the team informed us of this the evening before, and all other reception staff have followed this rule and informed us that this is the way they do things here with the keys) our unwell friend then had to contact us for us to end our evening and get a taxi back to them speak to another member of staff to then get us the key?!? This is completely ridiculous. He was rude, unhelpful and just seems out to make our stay as unpleasant as he possibly could. I wouldn’t normally dog someone out like this, but our whole group was affected by this one horrible member of staff. The food is sub standard but edible - has the usual fares of a basic low quality hotel buffet. If you were here for a stag or something you may be happy with just anything but not for us thanks. The indoor bar advertised doesn’t open (not even during peak season?!?) The pool area is dirty, & the pool itself is dirty. The rooms are very dated (feeling like something from holidays in my youth to these sorts of resorts completely stuck in time and needing a full refurb). The air con doesn’t work and we were here during 40C heat which made the nights very uncomfortable. Don’t let the fairly modern lobby and reception area in the pictures fool you, no other part of the hotel looks anything like this. To get to the dining room you have to walk from the far end of the pool, all the way to the entrance part of the hotel to then go in and to get back out to the pool it’s the same return journey - it makes no sense. This can be found in other places, but doesn’t stop it being negative: with an all inclusive band, ordering cocktails from the same menu, you get a poor cocktail made from a automatic machine, without your all inclusive band, you get a completely different cocktail made for you?! What is going on. I’m not talking about premium or local spirits, that is fine, I’m am saying that you get a completely different drink for the same item ordered?! Bonkers being punished for paying all inclusive for your stay. All in all I would never contemplate staying here again and advise all travellers to find alternative accommodation.

The lady on the outside bar although not particularly personable, she was helpful, occasionally cracked a smile (which is more than the other staff we met) served drinks and took poolside food orders well enough. Only half OK thing about the hotel. 2 younger ladies on reception that were helpful when other members of the team (Papu) was being completely inhospitable. Terrible Experience - Avoid at All Costs!

I recently had an absolutely dreadful experience at this hotel, and I feel compelled to share my horror story to warn others. We checked in with high hopes, but it quickly turned into a nightmare.

First and foremost, our room was infested with cockroaches. I couldn't believe the number of them scurrying around the place. It was beyond disgusting and completely unacceptable for any establishment.

Navigating the hotel felt like being trapped in a maze. The layout is confusing, and there are no clear signs or helpful staff to guide you. We spent more time trying to find our way around than actually enjoying our stay.

To make matters worse, there was no option to dine outside. Considering the state of the interior, it would have been nice to at least have a decent meal in a pleasant environment. Unfortunately, we were stuck eating in a dingy, poorly maintained dining area.

Speaking of food and drink, the lack of variety was astonishing. The same limited options were available every day, making meals incredibly monotonous. It felt like they put no effort into catering to their guests' needs or preferences.

Adding to the dismal experience was the restaurant staff. They were extremely disorganized and appeared to be wearing dirty clothes. It was clear that hygiene and professionalism were not priorities here, which only made the dining experience even more unpleasant.

The hotel itself is extremely rundown. Everything from the furniture to the decor is in desperate need of an update. The overall atmosphere is one of neglect and disrepair.

Housekeeping was virtually non-existent. Our room was not cleaned properly during our stay, and it was evident that the hotel has a serious issue with maintaining basic cleanliness standards.

After just two days, we couldn't take it anymore and decided to switch hotels. I strongly advise anyone considering a stay here to look elsewhere. This was, without a doubt, the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Save yourself the trouble and book...

Upon arriving after booking through love holidays, myself and 3 friends weren’t too pushed about having somewhere nice to stay, but this quickly became the talking point of the holiday. Upon entering you are greeted by red ropes at the entrance to the establishment that are only a mirage of what is to be expected. Reception is very classy, but only a cover up for the excuses they call the luxury rooms. Once entering the room we got a rancid smell of cooked chicken that not only lingered for a few hours, but days. The smell came up through the building and into the room via som crevice or opening. Once you leave reception the building is highly out dated. I would say the air conditioner is easily from the early 2000’s. It was not what was shown in photos and I know this can be somewhat expected when travelling but this took the biscuit. The best part of the room was the balcony, because you could somewhat escape from the smell. I will however note the pool was excellent and the lounge area around it was great. A bar was also there all day. Overall I would not come back to this establishment and this was easily the worst one I have stayed in to date. Photos attached are of the stains on the table, a leak in our bathroom that saturated the floor for days and even after asking staff to fix it they ignored our request.
