Salinas — Restaurant in Alcácer do Sal

An excellent experience. We arrived about 7.30 and the restaurant was already filling up. Despite not having a reservation (I think everyone else did) they found a cute spot for us.

We had the picanha (fillet steak) and the "Terra e Mar", which is various cuts of pork with a couple of shrimp, plus a couple of salads. The side dishes that come with the meats can be unusual - in particular "migas" which is a kind of bready mash with mint running through it. It sounds odd, but it's delicious! However, I could have done without the apple puree which was too sweet and reminded me of baby food.

They also have a very good wine list with plenty of range on price and regional variety. I had the first vintage (2021) of Recanto da Figueira, which it turns out is a new producer in the Alentejo based near Evora. The bottle was 10 euro. Yes, 10.

The service was also excellent and prompt despite the busy evening and both of our servers spoke good English.

Food is good. Parking: free on the street, where you can find good spot.

Arrived +/-14h. We had "bitoque" - traditional one = beef - no pork or chicken". We (4 persons) sat there for more than hour awaiting for our orders.

Employee serving us and apologised for more than once about delay and at the end explained to us, that usually it's not this kind of delayed. Prices? Not that cheap (we selected what appeared to us as more economic for 4) and giving the experience, not considering turning back.

For what is worth, this restaurant has seal/recommendation at the entrance door from "Boa Cama, Boa Mesa" for 2024.

I’ve already been to this restaurant before and came back this summer (2022). The food continues very good. We’ve ordered Filetes de Peixe Galo com arroz de coentros and it was definitely delicious. Totally recommend it. The bad part this time was the service. In the past they were very friendly and professional but this time it was totally the opposite. Very slow, we even skipped the dessert as everything was taking ages. Hope they can improve this part and return the good service from the past. I might return and update this review...
